Wait until all those apartments up there are rented, you'll be getting theater tickets the same way you get tee times. There is a lot of designated commercial acreage down here and a movie theater may well be in the plans. Personally I haven't been to one in 30 years so it doesn't bother me one way or the other. From what I've heard the Leesburg theater has more comfortable seats and lower cost tickets.

We have been in The Villages for12 years and love it as much as the day we moved here. The area sound of 44 has a lot to offer and the areas north are well maintained and close to the town squares. I don't think there's any way to go wrong if you want to have many options for nature, arts, entertainment, sports, and clubs with specific interests. The changes that are happening are fun to watch and I look forward to reading about the future as well as living in the moment here. If I won the lottery, I may have a beach house for occasions, but I'd live here.

Our Designer home was built in 2007 and it has 10' ceilings. In fact every Designer Series home in my neighborhood that I have been in has 10' ceilings. The upgrades sound nice.

I'm afraid you may be correct about that. I'm not happy about these apartments that are going to be built in The Villages. This is not what we bought in to.

My concern is resale value of our homes north of 44. I'm trying to get a pulse on why people below 44 feel their area is a better fit for them and north of 44 is somehow sub par. I do understand that if people want brand new, the only way to go is south of 44.

Most of the above is the developer’s wish list and hopefully it all will come to fruition but stuff happens. The big difference is most of if not all of the amenities were built before any homes were occupied. The developer would be sure to have places to get gas, food, entertainment reasonably close. It seems that the old plan was tossed out and the new plan is to build as many houses as possible without having easy access to some basic comforts south of 44. When I moved here 10 years ago, the developer built one village at a time and started a new one when the last one was mostly sold. Now it’s an explosion of houses in every direction with many villages being built at the same time. But not much in the way of shopping. I know that stores will come eventually but it will take time, just look at how long it’s taken for the first shopping area to be completed 31/2 years after ground breaking for Fenny and still not ready. I will say that it’s very pretty south of 44 and l’m sure all that buy homes in that area are happy and that is all that really counts.

There are a few negative people that complain about The Developer and complain about The Villages (Developer is greedy, too crowded, too much traffic, going to turn all golf courses into apartment buildings, etc, etc). I would say the majority of people who live here (including those north of 44) love it here.

The Villages is a great place if you are looking for a large, thriving retirement community. For some it is too large and that's fine. There are many different sections/villages and each has a different vibe. Most people won't ever travel "two" squares away so the complaining about the newer southern sections most likely is from folks who don't live there and have no intention of ever going there. The folks down that way that I know love it there, just as the folks up in Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter and Brownwood like their areas.

Spend some time getting to know the different sections in The Villages and you'll soon find out if this is the right place for you.

I like all the sections of The Villages personally and really find the diversity quite refreshing.
