It's how I was raised. It was pretty shocking to come to this forum and see opinions of people my parents' and grandparents' age, displaying such entitlement attitudes about pretty much every possible topic they could come up with.

I grew up in a comfortable lifestyle - the typical new england suburb where kids walked to elementary school, didn't need to lock our doors (but did at night anyway), everyone knew their neighbors, most families had both parents still married to each other, the male working full time and the woman either stay at home or working part time. Generic White American New England.

And yet somehow, my parents knew enough to instill in me a sense of "doing right because it's the right thing to do."

My grandparents were even more emphatic about it. My grandfather GAVE away his dental care to patients during the depression - not because he had to - but because it was the right thing to do. Often he would be paid in chickens, or bartered services, ice for the ice box. And he was paid that way, because the patients believed it was the right thing to do - even though my grandfather didn't ask or expect them to pay him during that time.

Was able to get an appointment at a Publix in Ocala for my mother-in-law. Took her up there yesterday.

:bigbow::bigbow: So true and so sad at what goes on. To see and hear what goes on in TV by declared law abiding citizens that are Christian and open minded, not.

To those who have had the first shot........

Were you given an appointment for your second shot? Are you guaranteed the second shot will be available to you when it is time for your second shot?

We got our COVID vaccine Friday night. We had appointments at Publix in Ocala. In and out in 20 minutes. 15 minutes was required post vaccination to monitor for reactions. You register on line and everything is ready when you walk in the door. Website works much better than Eventbrite. Shot 2 in 28 days! They will notify you of 2nd shot availability. Got to love Publix’ ability to manage this! Hope they make this available in every store.

Where did you have to wait your 15 minutes afterwards?

We went to the store on Maricamp close to Silver Springs. They had chairs in the pharmacy area. Well organized.

Publix registrations have ended until they can catch up and get more vaccine, I tried to post the story link from the newspaper but it got flagged as spam so this was the info in the article.

Appointments for the vaccines opened Thursday, two days after Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that 22 stores would receive and administer the Moderna vaccine as part of a pilot program.

Please wake up from you’re dream! As soon as shot are available it will be flooded.

The process was well managed by Publix. I wouldn't say that their registration website was "much" better than Eventbrite. I got in and was able to make the appt. for my MIL. But if I had needed/wanted two appts back to back (If my father-in-law were still alive), there didn't seem to be a way to do that. Would have had to start over with the second request, which probably wouldn't have been available in conjunction with the first, if at all.
There was a couple at Publix when we went that were in that very boat. The wife was getting her vaccine, but the husband couldn't get his until Saturday.

That's cause there are virtually no shots available!

The Original Post wasn't serious, it was humor with a bit of sarcasm.

Why isn't a master database created for Sumter County so that everyone who wants the vaccine can be pre-registered. Then develop a system for distribution instead of this hit or miss system being used now. It doesn't sound that difficult.

Had two computers up @ 08:00. One screen came up @ 08:00 - “You are in line, thanks”
At 08:45 said same thing. (Logging in on a third computer at 08:45, it said that Event is sold out)
The second computer screen advised @08:02 — “It’s you turn” It also stated that the first and second time slots were unavailable and the third was sold out.
At 08:18 the screen suddenly said “one ticket available for one of the unavailable time slots —- clicked to buy but screen came up “event sold out”
Some people must have fingers that move at light speed and/or much more computer savvy than I am ! Probably the latter.I
