I was on the site at 7:59. At 8:00 said I was in the queue. Of course that didn’t work out! Duhhhh.......Anyone have any understanding of how the queue is established?

I wish someone like you were put in charge of distribution. I find it appalling that many very healthy 60’s year olds are receiving the vaccine before people in their 80’s with compromised conditions just because they are more computer savvy with faster fingers. Covid-19 vaccine injections are becoming a dog eat dog competition with bragging rights for those who “scored”. How sad 😔......

Last time they used this raffle ticket like system it was reported that 35,000 people tried to get an appointment. It was probably at least that many this time competing for only 340 appointments so your chances were slim to none. The Sumter county DOH is doing its best with both limited resources and the very small number of doses it has been allocated. Once CVS, Walgreens, and Publix pharmacies can get up to speed things will improve greatly.

At 280 (140 Mon and 140 Wed), shots a week it will take Sumter 356 days to perform 100,000 vaccines shots. Sense you only get to days a week for shots we are looking at 7 to 8 years before they are done. Got to do better then this.

In a perfect world the people who said "its just the flu" should be the last to receive it. Bye....

Clinical trials are still looking for participants to receive the vaccine and help answer questions such as if the virus can still be transmitted after vaccination.

Add those folks who truly believe the virus is a hoax. Those are the folks who have not done their part to mitigate the spread of the virus.

I believe your count is off. When I was there on Thursday at 10:30 for the 10-11 slot there were exactly 26 cars in line with us (we counted) and 32+-2 or so in the 15 minute waiting zone. Most of all the cars we tied looking at including mine had 2 people and that was only one of the 4 1hr scheduled Thursday slots. So that one hour alone was likely 80 to 90 people and they had 3 other fully filled 1 hr slots that day. The next day I called the Sumter County DOH regarding shot #2 and she said there were only around 320 vaccines available for all of Thursday (and she said there were over 35,000 website hits to try to get one) which makes sense using my "visual guesstimate" of 80-90 in the 10-11 AM slot. Still not a lot nut a lot more than 140 on Thursday. As for 2nd shot, she said they will call you to setup an appointment but that process or location hasn't been finalized yet. She said it should be 2 to 2.5 weeks before they start calling folks for shot #2 appointments.
