The concern comes when a surgically altered male now identified as trans-female should be allowed to compete against natural females. Many of us feel that is simply unfair. Some do not wish to support businesses that support what they disapprove of, which is their right.
The controversy is really that simple.

Not that it matters to the discussion, but in many cases, there is NO surgical alteration... Lia Thomas has not had any surgery...

Ranked 460 something as a male swimmer just over a year ago... Now ranked #1 as a woman... Sure...Let's go with that...

Hope all that support this have a daughter/granddaughter who loses out on a scholarship or place on the Olympic team because of this... (See how that works both ways?)

This thread is so stupid.

When the Russian athlete who lost to Bruce Jenner in the Olympic's decathalon was informed that Mr. Jenner had become Caitlyn Jenner, his comment was so spot on that I just smiled and nodded. He said, "Oh...so I lost to a woman!" as in who the heck cares. If you all want to get your knickers in a bunch because of someone living their life as they like (i.e. its called freedom), then get your knickers in a knot. But, please don't try to convince me that your small mindedness is something we should all share. Adopt the Russian athlete's motto, Who the heck cares!

Once again (for the umpteenth time)...

The vast majority don't care how someone chooses to live their life. This thread is NOT about that...

This discussion is about fairness in WOMEN'S sports...

P.S. Can you please cite this "quote" from Nikolai Avilov? Not that I don't believe it, but I don't believe it...

Go barefoot... Adidas nor Nike will miss the closeminded, and ignorant. You're the minority... Bye!

I’m sure that sports with the help of science will come to some type of rules over this issue , but I suspect for many here this isn’t so much about transgender athletes as it is about transgender people themselves, who just like the rest of us are just trying to be happy with who we are. As far as boycotting Adidas and Nike I suspect that like the NFL boycott most that complained weren’t watching anyway, the same applies to these companies , or like many guys who were boycotting the NFL only to blurt out during a conversation about some play lol, just like some saying they have thrown out there gear on this posting while wearing there Nike sneakers . Me I’ll still be wearing my Nike sneakers while watching the NFL next year and still believing we are all whatever God you worship his children

Maybe, but when we aren't free it'll be too late to act as the Canadiens and Australians found out.

Or hm - a woman with prodigial hand-eye coordination, that most golfers lack, competing in womens' golf against other women who don't have that prodigial hand-eye coordination?

Should Tiger Woods have been rejected from pro-golf because he has a significant biological advantage over other golfers (golf is both a physical and mental sport, and he mastered it from both ends, something others COULD NOT DO)?

How about [insert name] the pro-football running back who can do whatever the heck he does better than any other football player due to his physicality? Should he be disqualified so that lesser men can have a chance at winning?

A woman with naturally broad-shouldered frame and narrow hips will have a much higher shot at being a championship swimmer than a woman with narrow shoulders and wider hips. Should that broad-shouldered woman not be permitted to compete?

People are both however they're born, and their physicality doesn't prevent them from competing. In fact, often it's their physicality that allows them to win. Do we tell those with superior physicality that they're no longer allowed to compete because it's not fair to those with less superior physicality? No, no we don't. In fact, we applaud it, and pay them the winning prize for it.

UNTIL you start talking about something that you don't understand or fear. Then it's a bad thing. Physical traits becomes taboo, no longer permitted. THIS physical trait will ruin the game, it gives everyone else an unfair advantage.

Maybe they should just check testosterone levels. If your levels are on par with the levels of the rest of the people on your team, then you can play. If they're not, you can't. No matter what your DNA says you are. A man with super-low testosterone levels as a result of genetic mutation, should be able to compete on the womens' team. In fact, change the names. No more womens' teams and no more mens' teams. Make it Hi-T and Low-T.

You want it to be fair, then go down that road instead. The presence or absence of a ***** or vagina doesn't mean diddly, except in the case of reproduction and whether or not it's easy to pee standing up.

Your whole argument has nothing to do with the original point on the conversation. If people who care about women’s rights can’t admit to the fact that grown biological male athletes have a distinct physical advantage over female athletes, then that’s either ignorance or wokeism that would rather ignore facts because it messes up their argument.

Perfectly stated.

Shouldn’t that last sentence end with a question mark and not the exclamation point? Or did you think you were making a statement but it turned into a question by using the first word “don’t”?

Either way, people need to think about what they’re replying to before they write something that totally doesn’t make sense and then hit that send key. They probably won’t sound like a dufus next time.

I have my beliefs and you have yours - leave it at that, sport.

A very talented and capable, born female, swimmer that has trained all her life for competition shouldn't care that a, born male swimmer, who "thinks he is female" beats her??? Her loss just might jeopardize a scholarship or a place on the Olympic team and possibly paid endorsements for products.

How would you feel as the parent of this woman after you spent years taking her to events, practice and spent money so she could compete and possibly win recognition for her accomplishments? Are you going to tell her "suck it up buttercup", forget all the effort and sacrifice you put into the sport, you got beat by the better man?

It is (follow the science) a fact that the male body is physically much more capable than a female body. It was quite evident to me during my 20 years in the Army that females could not perform physically at the same levels as male soldiers.
There is no fairness for natural women when they have to compete against men who claim they are a woman.

Who really cares what a Russian athlete has to say????? Now if he has a halo and walks on water while turning water to wine, I probably will give him all my attention.

Didn’t know that about Adidas, thanks for that information! Thanks to our legal system & society. I never wore a Nike shoe only because Colin Kaepernick is there non American kneeling flag & military hater. Can’t believe we allow Nike into our country. As a matter of fact anything China made & yea I know 90% of everything we buy is made in China. Maybe that’s why China is way ahead of the U.S.
