And now have to pay to maintain it.

Adding paving has complications previously explained by GoldWingnut but wonder what the cost to dig up the sod and replace with gravel may have been...

Ya, because there is gravel everywhere in the Villages?

The difference between the Villages and a golf cart community is _________

That is a very good question and I am curious what answer will be given.

As for myself, I have no idea because I have never lived in bona-fide "golf cart community".

The rusted looking boxcar is an eyesore imo. Glad my house is far away and I dont have to see it regularly. The only thing missing is graffiti painted on it.
The line of golf carts was cute and it saved the real spots for the cars.
I have bicycled by there when they were parked and did not see the issue.

Golf carts park on the verge all over the Villages. Next to the golf course on 466a and Morse there are usually a half dozen carts with people watching play.
Below 44 on Meggison on the way to Brownwood there are carts parked where people pick up the walking paths by St Johns. On Morse below Havana CC there are people parking to walk their dogs. None of these spots is a designated parking area.
This is selective enforcement at Sawgrass.

Per the sign on post #90, you have been living in a golf cart community and never knew it. SURPRISE!!

"OH happy day. OH happy day. When I first drove, drove my golf cart away."

Yesterday at lap lanes, I parked next to a WW2 guy getting out of his cart. He could barely walk, but was heading in to swim. He didn’t park next to the sidewalk or entry, but in a non handicap spot.

I said take your time, I will get a lane for you. I took the closest lane, sat down and waited. I waited 11 minutes before his smiling face arrived at the lane. I thanked him for his service to our country, and gave him my lane. Saving lanes is not allowed, but I could give up my lane and it was an honor.

After he finished I took the lane, yep I had to wait, but his smile when he left and a thank you for being so kind, was all one needs to make their day better.

So no matter how many issues you think you have, there are always those who have a little more.

Thank you very much for the kindness, courtesy and respect you showed to one of the few remaining from our WWII veterans. Decency is not dead! You give me hope for the future.

Sure, a lot of people have golf carts, but the law does give them any special rights. They have their own paths and bridges where I cannot drive my car, but every time one of their paths intersects the road where I am driving, they have a stop sign.

If you say so...

Is that one sign all it takes to be a certified 'golf cart community'?

I like the boxcar…….

None of those articles specified exactly what it takes to be a so-called 'golf cart community'.

North of Route 44, there are some paths where cars are prohibited but golf carts are allowed, so maybe that area could be called a 'golf cart community''.

But south of Route 44, there are many more miles of paths where golf carts are forbidden but bikes are allowed, so maybe that area should be called a 'bicycle community'.

Thanks for your support! Sincerely, Fred

I'd like it much better if it had a garden gnome on the platform and a tacky pink flamingo displayed through the window.

OK - so we can have an intelligent conversation with you please point us to

1- the criteria of what a golf cart community are (and souce)
2 - a concrete example of one that has earned the distinguished designation

Google has finally failed me. In fact most google responses were The Villages was the number 1 golf cart community in the WORLD.
