That is a very good question and I am curious what answer will be given.

As for myself, I have no idea because I have never lived in bona-fide "golf cart community".

You don't know what a golf cart community is but you know this is not one. OK then, why is the Villages NOT a golf cart community?

No more parking on the grass at Sawgrass, time to rename it Sawasphalt.

Well, it looks like my life came full circle. As a kid, we were made fun of because we lived near 'the tracks' - a railroad yard about a half mile from my house. Here i am again living near the tracks - about a half mile away. When we bought and were told about sawgrass being built we did not know it was a downscale venue. Nobody asked me about decorating it.

Because there is nothing special about owning and driving a golf cart. It is just one more method of transportation.

We residents drive trucks, golf carts, bicycles, cars, and motorcycles to get where we want to go. The Villages is no more a 'golf cart community' than it is a 'motorcycle community".

What makes The Villages a "golf cart community" is the infrastructure which allows golf cart access to just about anything you would want or need in your daily life. What community in the world, other than The Villages, has golf cart access to over 100 restaurants, medical facilities of all types, and all sorts of retail stores? I'll answer that: NONE. The infrastructure in The Villages includes MMPs, diamond lanes in the smaller roadways, golf cart bridges and golf cart tunnels.

The Villages is most certainly a golf cart community.

In my signature block I list five places I have lived. In exactly one of those places am I able to drive a golf cart down the middle of many streets. It is the same place where several of the streets marked with a lane for golf carts. It is the same place where golf cart paths are provided along the streets on which I am not allowed to drive my golf cart. It is the same place where golf-cart-only tunnels and bridges have been built to connect the golf cart paths on opposite sides of major highways. In exactly one of those five places am I likely to see more golf carts parked at an event than trucks, bicycles, cars, and motorcycles combined.

That is certainly not a legal description but if it doesn't make the Villages a golf cart community then I can't even begin to imagine what would. You call it what you like, I'll continue to enjoy life in my golf cart community.

None of those articles specified exactly what it takes to be a so-called 'golf cart community'.

End of discussion, the Villages IS a golf cart community. And that’s the 16th hole at Tierra Del Sol across the street in the above picture.

I know this is a golf cart community because I don't have a car here, but I still get to everything I need.

I can get to those same places in my car, my truck, on my bike, or on my motorcycle.

Does that make The Villages a "truck community"?

Well, literally, every place in the country with a road is a car/truck community.
Not every place is a golf cart community.

Bill14564 04-12-2023 08:02 AM

And with that, another troll is added to my ignore list.

Good luck - if this place were not a golf cart community those "truck" roads would turn into giant parking lots.
