I experience friendliness every time I pull off the golf cart path to do something (cell phone call) and I'm repeatedly asked if I need help; I'm grateful for their kindness in asking and it's one of the many things that make me happy to be living in TV. |
We wave and we always stop to see if someone needs help or directions. When we came here for a couple of weeks, we couldn't believe the people were so nice to stop and help us with directions. We said that if we ever moved here, we'd stop for everyone ~ and we do! There are some cranky, unhappy people here but I try to ignore them or pity them!

Nothing more discouraging than throw out a big howdy duty wave and get no return or acknowledgements of your friendly jester.
With that said sometimes there are reasons you don't get the acknowledgment? I usually wave, but sometimes I am not paying attention to passerby's. I'm also hearing impaired, so some times it's more important for me to keep my mine on my surroundings. With only one ear (includes the ear/ balance components) I can not tell were sound come from or the direction. So some times that overrides wave. |

Grrrrrrrrrr. We wave at everybody.:girlneener: Except when I can't see people because the sun's blinding me or the other car(t)'s windshield. |
Sometimes it is kind of hard to wave at other carts from your own cart but we always wave at those walking for exercise. Always get a wave back, too.
Last summer, my wife (Mrs. Trap) saw a lady walking during the day and she looked all worn out. My wife stopped the cart, asked the lady if she needed help and the lady was very grateful for a ride back to her house. Mrs. Trap stayed with her for a while to ensure the lady was not in need of medical help. See, I married a good one! As far as grumps - really have not seen hardly any. We talk to strangers at the squares and have good conversations. All seem very friendly. The few that I have met in person from TOTV are all great folks. |
Mrs Trap is a nice lady.:)

It isn't that difficult to wave. Raising some of your fingers off the steering wheel works. A full in the air waVe isn't necessary. Eye contact isn't necessary. A smile works, too.

I can't help how people respond but I will keep on waving. I come from a big city but it is in the south so everyone waves there too. Almost everyone anyway. I think many who don't wave are distracted or didn't see you wave. :pepper2:

Please don't think Villagers are not friendly because they don't wave. After awhile, we get used to all the beauty and all the nice folks and just concentrate on where we're going, thinking of what we are about to do.
No harm meant, I am sure. I hope I never stop SEEING how pretty it is where my golf cart takes me. I concentrate more on staying on my side of the road and not following too close and prepare myself for some very interesting and sometimes dangerous behavior on the part of other golf cart drivers. |
It just takes time. I have a lot of people wave at me now, and I am sure that once they get the hang of it, they will use their whole hand instead of just one finger.
|
I wave, remember there are folks here from less friendly locations
|
I wave to everyone and I'd estimate that 80% of the people wave back. I don't know where you're driving, but people waving to each other from golf carts is one of the things that I love about The Villages.

So now that our house backs up to a road, just for sh**s and giggles my husband  at those driving by. Yep most ::wave:back. I just read my book and try not to laugh:1rotfl:
