Not from 1st hand knowlege BUT from what I've read...most sex offenders are good friends of a family or a family member. Having someone as a neighbor---might not be as offensive. Perhaps the incident(s) occurred in the distant past---ie. the 19 yr old with a 17 yr old or a falsely accused. I think this is a complicated matter that needs to be addressed as a case by case thing. There are worse things I'm going to be concerned of, rather than the "what if's" of who moves in the neighborhood.

Have to read up on that. That makes this quite complex. So don't take your grand kids to GUN WORLD ? |

To this point you made as the general idea of your thread, I can think of very few places, including seminaries where this can be done. Even prisons have innocent people contained, so best just not to judge. I moved here many years ago......much smaller population....fewer of everything....guess what......we had bad people then drinking and driving, etc. I always thought that good people far outweigh the bad people....bad people are louder maybe :) |

Few Considerations
It is an acceptable conclusion within the Psychological Field that there is no cure for a Pedophile or a Psychopath or Sociopath. (The difference in the last 2 is one is more genetic and the other more envioremental.) Thus you have life time registrations for Pedophile's. Take some time to think as to where is a good place for Pedophile's to hide. In a high percentage of cases the child impacted by a Pedophile attack will be harmed for life. It is a terrible attack on a child and maybe the Pedophile should be removed from society. :ohdear:

From what I gather pedophilia is a sickness without a cure. Sad for all.
"It is an acceptable conclusion within the Psychological Field that there is no cure for a Pedophile or a Psychopath or Sociopath." Drug companies have a pill for every "cure" to make $$$ and Psychos say "no cure" to keep the money rolling in. |
The Law
The law on sex offenses is much too broad and vague. Case in point:
A young man in Texas got his girlfriend pregnant. He was 18, she was 16. By law, he was an adult and she was a minor. Her mother had a fit when the girl told her she was pregnant, filed charges on the guy, and tried to rescind the charges once she calmed down. Nothing doing. Not retractable according to Texas law. Until the law is changed, nothing can be done about it. He is labeled a pedophile. Now he is a registered sex offender. He and the girl married, had their baby, had more children, and are still married. Saddest part is that he cannot be alone with minors, including his own children. My point is that not all pedophiles or sex offenders are created equal. As for living next door to someone with a sex offense record, it might or might not be a comfortable situation. I would definitely have no problem living next door to that Texas couple. |

Who can we trust? I really like woman and think they should be believed. I really like men and think they should be believed. The men in my world have been kind and good and healthy fellows who are honest, ditto the women. Some are not. No. Some are not. |

I gave up judging people in Sept 1966 when a college roomie commented to one of my comments - "Who are you to judge?" I thank Judy P for that wake up call! |

There, in fact, is a permanent cure to these problems that some people have. Use your imagination. Simple and cheap too!

Citizen X (1995) HD - YouTube True story of a serial killer/necrophiliac. Interesting to see how the Russians dealt with this individual. A movie I could watch again every couple of years. |
