I played with a couple the woman Sue got a hole in one Sunday from 110 yards at Richmond. It was a great shot so why would she not be able to report it?? There are lesser shots on many executive courses being reported.

Please don't tell me you're comparing #7 at Pebble to any of the 75 yard holes on exec courses here. Please don't. Yes, it is 92 yards downhill, but often into a 40+ mph wind. Even Nicklaus stated he has hit 5 iron to that hole. Additionally, just try to skull a driver into the hole there, rotsa ruck.

Thank you for your positive words! To be honest I got a serious headache from shaking my head at all the naysayers! Just a normal day with TOTV!!!

By the way I’ve scored 2 holes-in-one here in The Villages! Both were witnessed and both were ‘acts of God’!!! Remember him …? Maybe that’s what we really need in our lives … more God!!!

I don't ever play the tips. As a courtesy to the people behind me (that's a joke, son), but never had the game for it. Well, that's not entirely true, in some amateur events I qualified into flights that required it, where it then became evident I was in over my head.
As I approach 70, I'm finding more and more courses are too much from me from the whites. I fear the Greens are just a birthday away.

Time for computer golf. And it is better for the environment. And many courses up north are using Electric Carts.

Goody for you. Goody for your club with the green that was longer than 75 yards.

We'll defer to you and your club before we do any celebrating here. We wouldn't want to have any fun or excitement of which your boys at the "Country Club of Really Large Greens" would not approve.

Reminds me of the other day, on #8, Mallory-Virginia. The tee box is close to the pickleball courts. From the courts you could hear whooping, laughing, and human sounds I would associate with happiness, and fun. I commented to my playing partners , "hear that? Hear that laughing, and joking, and general happiness? That's pickleball. Thank goodness we don't go for that nonsense on this side of the fence, where we recognize that our recreation is an exercise in futility, anger, and frustration."

It's good that we honor places like "The Country Club With Really Big Greens" and members thereof to remind us of our plight.

I will agree with Golf being an "exercise in futility, anger, and frustration". I would add that it is a waste of too much fertilizer, grass cutting, water evaporation, Co2 production from ICE engine Carts, and how can I forget TIME.

it isn't 75 yards from the tips is it? I remember once watching the old Bing Crosby there, and the pros (old crappy balls and clubs, of course) were hitting woods and long irons into a stiff wind. I can't remember the distance, but probably 185, which of course was like 220 in today's world.

I can't remember who the pro was but he took his club out, and knocked it 50 yards into the ocean. Seems the wind took that particular moment to stop for a rest. The look on that guy's face, and the look he and his caddy shared was priceless.

But, the hole, and your comment, do illustrate that distance isn't everything.

EDIT: it wasn't #7, it was #17.

Yes, #17 at Pebble is usually about 185 yards, the very back is 208. #7 is the short par 3, and there are plenty of bogies made by touring pros on that hole, the most I've seen it play is 108.

The true waste is the amount of electricity used to power some people's computer and internet connection. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

It’s not the difficulty, nor the distance. It’s the percentages. The odds are stacked against you with only 2 chances in 18 holes on the champion courses, verses 18 chances in 18 holes on executive courses. Also, one must use every club in the bag on champion courses verses the more repetitive limited club selection needed to play the executives. There is no comparing the two.
When asked if I’ve had a hole-in-one, my standard response is: “Three, BUT one was on an executive course.”
That being said, congratulations are always in order for any hole-out more then 2’ from the cup!

Best rebuttal to the "WOKEE crowd" that I have heard lately. And a Chinese philosopher said to the Chinese king, "and THIS too will pass (meaning his kingdom). I will drink to NEVER having to hear "woke" spoken again. Maybe Star Wars could have a new movie with a WOKEE for a hero.
