Disgusting

It is disgusting to see a dog owner walk his/her dog at the Postal stations and to also allow them to do their business on someone else's property. We had a dog for years and would never allow it. Don't the challenged dog owners know they also carry diseases and
this spreads them. As I say there is no cure for "stupid". No way will these notes convince them to stop but rather cause them to be more aggressive. Just look at some of the responses to this thread. Enough said. :ohdear:

I really do understand the writers stance on the subject but unfortunately most people don’t want other people’s pets doing that business in their yards. All day and night wild animals and birds are also doing their business at will so for me as long as the owners pick up and dispose of the waste at their own home I don’t see the issue well, except for the ones are that won’t pick it up😤

In the heat streets are too hot so grass at post office is a cool and convenient place

The signs are ignored

That's right. Dogs are not allowed at the postal stations. Read the signs.

Well, there is a sign at the Preserve saying no dogs are allowed. It had to be closed because so many people were taking their dogs there and not cleaning up.

First, I love dogs, have had many, man’s best friend
1. Why do you drive your car or cart up to the postal center to do their business and for no other purpose. I see the same people do this three or four times a day.
2. Why is it that you come to get your mail and get your dog out of your cart or car to do their business?
3. Why do you drive your cart and let the dog try to keep up with you along the street knowing you can not get out and pick up the business?
4. Why don’t you walk your dog to do their business in your own yard?

good questions

I am perfectly okay with people walking their dogs in the neighborhoods and am even acceptive if they have to do business ( you never know when nature is going to call) in my yard, as long as they pick it up. We all need exercise and fresh air, our pets included.

Am anxious to hear only from those that use the above as a common practice. If you do not have anything nice to say with a logical explanation, please do not post. My understanding is that the postal center is for a place to pick up your mail, socialize with neighbors and enjoy the amenities adjacent such as shuffleboard etc. They are amenities provided and paid for by the residents, they are not dog parks.
Thank you.

good questions, I have asked myself these questions on many occasions

[QUOTE=VApeople;1754621]No.

Go to any postal station in The Villages south of 44. You will see a sign showing a leashed dog with a line through it.

I have Chihuahua can't :read: English

That means dogs are forbidden at that postal station.

Always wondered why houses sell so quickly south of 44. Thanks for the no dogs at postal station tip. Shirley, start packing!

I have 5 lb dog whose feet burn on the cement and hates other dogs, I think the mail station is the perfect place for his exercise. We walk behind and near the pond. I pick up his poop and take it home. He lives to go on the cart and get a change of scenery and smells from his own yard. I live here pay taxes and follow the rules, so why not! I think some people need to mind their own business. If you don’t want to share common space move to an island

I don't understand why people get SO bent out of shape over dogs?
Didn't your dad let you have one, or something?

As long as people pick up after them, what the hell is the big deal?
How is letting my dog get a little freedom/exercise HURTING anyone?
As stated previously, dog parks are closed and the yards here are tiny..

If your "complaint" is simply about "rules" bet you roll through stop signs, speed, don't use your blinker.....have a white cross..well, probably NOT on that one...

Some people don't have anything REAL to worry about....

BostonRich 04-28-2020 08:10 AM

Why does this bother you anyway? What you are at the postal station for a minute picking up your mail and then you leave? There are more important issues.

Earlride 04-28-2020 08:16 AM

1. How are you able to see multiple people do this four times a day - are you a postal station stalker?
2. After any car or cart ride, maybe due to nerves, my dog needs to pee or poop (I pick it up always)
3. If my dog was riding beside my cart, perhaps to give him exercise the driver is unable to - the dog isn't going to poop/pee at a full run. He will do it when the run ends and then they can pick it up.
4. Dogs peeing in your own yard will usually go to the same place every time and that can eventually kill the grass.

I don't believe there is a sign at the Fenney west station as it is not near the pickle ball, bocce, or corn toss courts, etc..

I don't understand why pet owners can't let their dogs relieve themselves on their own property THEN take them to the postal station or where ever they want to go for a walk and get exercise.

We don't have a dog now but were dog owners for 32 years (2 different dogs). I never, ever took my dogs out anywhere to relieve themselves other than the potty area on our property. I walked them on their leashes to an area I prepared for them. This area was surrounded by bricks or pavers and I put soft shredded mulch in the area. This was super comfortable for their paws. I replenished the mulch to maintain a nice potty area for them

When we took walks, I always carried a bag to pick up after them. I never knew when the urge would strike them even after they had pooped in their prepared potty area on our own property. That rarely happened but at least, I was prepared. Marking their spot with urine, however, always happened on the walks. Male dogs!

Wow ! You can’t ride your bike or drive your golf cart to get your mail either, glad we live north of 44 !
