I think most people are upset that in The Villages Sales Office in Fenney two years ago they posted the plans for Magnolia Plaza with an opening date of FALL 2019! For many the decision to buy here was based on golf cart access to a grocery store. Then they changed it to just 2020. Now according to the Publix PR people the plans at break ground are Spring 2020 and they said it takes 9 months from start to open a store.

I think the interesting fact in all this is while Magnolia Plaza sat empty Publix decided to build next to Lowes on 466A (outside the bubble) about halfway between Colony and Grand Traverse. I wonder if there was a message in there somewhere?

It was mentioned on 2 threads within the past 2 days. The current schedule is for construction of the Publix to start in late spring and to be opened in mid to late 2021.

And it's going to Rain Saturday

Drove over to the Publix at Trailwinds....looks different. Seems like a higher roof line, larger and more boxy. Might be because it sits alone and created an optical confusion :)

I drove down to Championsgate about a month ago for a Callaway new product introductory meeting and saw a new Publix down there. It was a standalone building and looked to be the same size as what's going in at Trailwinds; beautiful exterior appearance that was totally unlike the Colony store.

Some were hoping for a different grocery chain than what is offered now. So I am very disappointed

I was going to say something and then I decided it's not worth a reply.

I totally agree. I wonder if the developer contacts the folks at publix and offers them first crack at newly decided upon locations. I bet that other stores would love to have a location here. Although, other companies might not think they could make enough money during the non-snowbird season.

However, all those decisions are above my pay grade. I still have not been contacted by any of those folks for my opinion!

I’m glad the New Publix is being built near the new Lowe’s as I usually shop at Colony Publix. Then a few days later go to Aldi to get a few things I like from there such as rice pudding, French bread, pork tenderloin & wine. So now I can hit Publix & Aldi & even stop in at Lowes if necessary. :MOJE_whot:
