Um, I doubt that would pass the ARC...

That would not work. The dog would have to be wearing a collar paired with the fence. Electric fences are used to keep your dog in your yard. The fence does not prevent animals from entering the yard.

That's an "Invisible Fence"...

The person posting that couldn't be that confused as to conflate the two, could they?

I suppose that everyone has pet peeves (this is appropriate - the PET - DOG - in pet peeves). But, this one (that resurfaces every month) always catches me by surprise. A yard is one of the last things that I would be SUPER particular about. I would WORRY that my car was NOT shined to a mirror-like perfection before I would expect perfection from my yard. I would worry that my computer desk was NOT NEAT enough (it isn't) before I'd worry about excrement on my yard. I would worry about a rust spot on my bicycle before excrement on my yard. A rust spot on a bicycle will get worse once it starts, but dog excrement will stop smelling (on its own) after about 1 day, and rain or people's sprinkler systems will QUICKLY melt it into the soil.
........I like to see the various dogs walk by my home - it reminds me of my youth when all the neighborhood kids and dogs ran around free and easy. Drivers never sped through the neighborhood streets (like the professional grass cutters here today do) and the dogs somehow knew to stay away from moving cars. It seemed more natural then. My parents worried about the Korean War then and whether flying saucers were real. Dog excrement was NEVER mentioned except to let the dog out when it scratched at the door (it was communicating and where the dog went to do his business, was HIS business. Ah yes the good old days......to be continued.

A few other things that confuse me about yard perfection and associated territoriality. A yard is JUST a big area comprised of insects, goose do-do, other bird droppings, sand, worms, black crawling beetles, fire ants, fertilizer, manure, commercial black soil from who-knows-where, green grass (normally not the SOFT varieties that are up north, but hard crabgrasses) and my all-time favorite........(horn blows) SPIDERS AND SNAKES.
......I don't believe that I have EVER seen a bunch of neighbors get together and sit on towels and sheets and play music and talk and be happy on that biomass that they call their yard. Now some sit in folding chairs on the CEMENT driveway (not the yard) and DO, whatever they DO. I HAVE seen that. And sitting in gazeboes watching the sunset. I can understand that! But, I fail to understand being enamored about a yard that one never uses for any activity.
And the FINAL CLINCHER is that only about 10% of the residents care enough about their own yards to cut their OWN grass.(not counting those who are physically unable to cut their grass) Even for that - they NOW have Rumba's for yard-cutting. So, they hire grass-cutting Neanderthals who put divots into the house's siding and run over plants, park in the middle of busy streets, and break ALL LAND SPEED RECORDS as they race from one yard that they don't care about to another yard that they could care LESS about.
.......So, I find it really EXCEEDINGLY strange that these same individuals have hissy fits and break out in hives whenever a dog on a leash even SNIFFS at a blade of grass in their beloved yards. They say that it takes ALL kinds to make a world?

With the amount of watering that we do, coupled with rain, and the fact that we live on sand, the yards aren’t in danger of dying from dog urine. The yellow spots that are prevalent on lawns are from pests; e.g.: grub worms.

Lucky you, but like so many others who act like they don't get it, it is that you are trespassing unless invited. Sign or no sign keep of the neighbors grass.

I find them to be quite amusing...

The angst of some of the posters is a study in psychology...

Plus, I've got nothing better to do on a rainy Saturday (we're waiting for the tropical storm to hit, here in the DC area...)

Wow, I hope karma isn't watching you closely, if so you're in big trouble.

There is no place on your neighbors yard "specifically where dogs are allowed to be walked" except in your imagination. Keep off the grass unless specifically invited.

They either had fenced in yards or they would go out with the dog in their yard to let it do it's thing(even in sub zero temps). I believe that now days walking a dog has to do more with the owner(wanting to show off or them wanting to be seen and possibly meeting someone they are not familiar with)

Very astute observation. A+

Sh*t happens...

But never on a neighbors lawn. If it does, then you are a failure as a dog owner.

Dogs need daily exercise. How do you suggest they get said exercise without walking them?

When you were "growing up in MN", odds are you played with your dog outside.

I'd wager that is just a tad more difficult in a 55+ community...

1. Not my problem.
2. Not my problem. Maybe use one of the dog parks?
3. Same in So. Cal.
4. Not my problem.

I think you are smarter than you let on. You don't need a cork, just use the leash to keep you dog off the neighbors lawn. It's so easy even a cave ..... Well, you know.
