so they can do their pooping. A reasonable request to dog owners!! Take your dog outside and walk your dog around your yard, front yard, back yard, side yard where ever you like on your property until the dog poops. After the dog is done pooping make sure you pick up the poop and then take your dog for a walk on YOUR BLOCK. Recently I noticed a owner who lives in the Village of Ashland on Haretison Ave walk his medium to large dog several houses down his block and make a turn onto Crawford Court walk several houses down and now his dog is pooping on my neighbors lawn. I mean really don't you feel bad your walking your dog and your dog is pooping on other peoples property. Why not allow your dog to poop on your next door neighbors lawn or the people that live accross the street from you. Please don't walk your dog 2 blocks away from your house and allow your dog to poop on someone elses lawn. We the Homeowners, Your Neighbors who live in The Villages pay to maintain our lawns. Watering, Cutting, fertilzing, etc. etc. just like you do. We really don't want your dog pooping on our lawns. THIS MESSAGE GOES OUT TO ALL DOG OWNERS.
Like I said earlier WAlK YOUR DOG ON YOUR PROPERTY TO DO IT'S POOPING!!!!
NOT YOUR NEIGHBORS LAWN!!! Thank You in Advance.

I suppose that everyone has pet peeves (this is appropriate - the PET - DOG - in pet peeves). But, this one (that resurfaces every month) always catches me by surprise. A yard is one of the last things that I would be SUPER particular about. I would WORRY that my car was NOT shined to a mirror-like perfection before I would expect perfection from my yard. I would worry that my computer desk was NOT NEAT enough (it isn't) before I'd worry about excrement on my yard. I would worry about a rust spot on my bicycle before excrement on my yard. A rust spot on a bicycle will get worse once it starts, but dog excrement will stop smelling (on its own) after about 1 day, and rain or people's sprinkler systems will QUICKLY melt it into the soil.
........I like to see the various dogs walk by my home - it reminds me of my youth when all the neighborhood kids and dogs ran around free and easy. Drivers never sped through the neighborhood streets (like the professional grass cutters here today do) and the dogs somehow knew to stay away from moving cars. It seemed more natural then. My parents worried about the Korean War then and whether flying saucers were real. Dog excrement was NEVER mentioned except to let the dog out when it scratched at the door (it was communicating and where the dog went to do his business, was HIS business. Ah yes the good old days......to be continued.

You read to page 5. And, you posted your comment. Maybe the entire TOTV community doesn't NEED to hear it, but a sizeable portion do. And on a regular basis to remind those with "short memories".

Lucky you. Not so much in our area, or many others.

Not my problem. Sounds like dog owners concern. That is why there are dog parks.

Ok, to summarize the replies from many of the above posts:
Dog owners purposely allow their dogs to relieve themselves on their neighbors lawns because they have no respect for their neighbors.
Most dog owners pick up after their dogs, therefore it's OK that they tresspass upon their neighbor's property for purposes of having their pets relieve themselves, without asking permission of the owners of such property.
Those that do not want dogs relieving themselves upon their property, hate dogs.
Owners of dogs cannot learn to control their dogs, therefore make excuses that their dogs are dumb and can't control their bowels.
Dog owners believe it is their right to use their neighbor's property without consent, for any purpose they wish.
The property owners that do not wish dogs upon their lawns, are evil dog haters and have no right to prohibit dogs from using their lawns as their lavatory.
Question:
If a dog relieves itself in a business/store and the owner of the animal picks up after it, does that make it OK?
If a business prohibits pets from it's property, is that OK but it's not OK for a neighbor to do the same?

What do you do about the plethora of wild life that uses your lawn? Nobody cleans up after them. There are raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, and fowl pooping on lawns everyday. Then there are the numerous reptiles defecating and shedding skin. Oh yes the overhead droppings too. Complaining about dog walkers who pick after their dogs is actually something that defines crabby old people.

Respect other's property and if you must walk your dog until it relieves itself, try using the dog parks that the developer conveniently added for your enjoyment. And don't be upset if my sprinklers come on at the same time you and your pet are using my yard as a dog park. After all, that is really my right. :D

I don't give a rat's @ss about any of those things...

And I'm sure you're just sitting there, peeking out of your window, waiting to turn on the sprinklers...

And I have never seen this...

Who are you responding to?
On the chance it is me, FYI I have had 8 wonderful dogs in my life. Mostly large. Never, as in never, let my dogs on to neighbors property, city or community lawns, flowerbeds, to sniff, snoop, pee or poop.
You are correct that dogs can't always poop on command, but they can learn when to hold it (as in house trained. Ever hear of that?
Also, if your dog is on a leash, as it should be, it can't go anywhere unless you let it. Dogs are not the problem. The owners, as always, are the problem.
