Bosch at Lowes, they did it all. The machine is great. We had the top of the line Samsung (waterwall) it was terrible, as was the service to make necessary repairs

Out of all the appliances in your kitchen, dishwashers are the most unique because they don't last forever like your oven, stove or even as long as your refrigerator, generally. Sure you will find someone who says they have their dishwasher for 30 years lol but usually when they start giving you trouble 5-8 years out, most replace them for a newer unit.

The point is none are really silent. They all make some noise to one extent or another. That said look at the DB sound rating and get a good middle of the road dishwasher because you are going to need to replace it at some point.

When we were in NY we purchased a high end LG dishwasher for a LOT of money. It was pretty silent. When we got to the Villages i purchased a GE Cafe dishwasher at 1/3 of the price and it was rated a lot quieter than the crazy expensive LG we purchased a few years before.

We purchased GE Cafe because my wife wanted their double oven because of the features it had. After that we wanted to match the rest of the appliances.

As far as which brand is best, the unfortunate thing is it varies from year to year. Some LG refrigerators had huge compressor problems a couple of years ago. Now they are fine. A lot of people don't like Samsung and GE. GE has several lines of different quality. My suggestion is look at Consumer Reports when you are ready to purchase to get an idea of what's good at the time.

As far as where to purchase them. Everyone has a story. Some like Lowes, some like Home Depot, etc... We purchased from Lowes. Yes our double oven came with the glass smashed. A problem in packing at the factory but Lowes took it back immediately, ordered a new one and we had it installed 2 weeks later. Dishwasher came with a tiny dent. Same thing, Lowes ordered a replacement and a couple weeks later came and replaced the dinged unit.

Hope this helps.

I purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher about 8 months ago -- highly recommend. I purchased from Home Depot and they installed the unit. Service was excellent.

Bosch from Lowes. They took the old one.

Are you looking for a cheap dishwasher or just want know where to buy one? I guess my biggest concern would be who stands behind their product warranty. I’m not big in extended warranties but I did buy a extended warranty when I bought my TV 2 yrs. ago. If I were you I would check at Sam’s Club, Lowes or Home Depot. Just me but I think some models are just junk.

Agree with Bosch. The 100 series is #1on Consumer Report and was $599 online.. But watch out for Lowes installation , we got charged an extra $250 because we have a slide out garbage bin between the dishwasher and sink. Took an extra 5 minutes at most for hose and hookup. After a 1 hour argument with Lowe's manager take it or leave it. BS. The dishwasher is great.

I have a Bosch 800. A couple really important reasons for getting a Bosch. They are very quiet. So much so that at times I don't realize it is on at all. Second reason is that you can put plastics anywhere in the dishwasher. Can be top or bottom trays. They don't dry the same way other dishwashers dry so your plastics are safe anywhere in the dishwasher. I bought mine from Home Depot.

I would NOT be a good one to comment on this subject, because I always use paper plates and even HAND wash them sometimes - in order to do one good DEED for the environment. We had a dishwasher when we bought the place, but removed it as just WASTED space.
.......But good luck with the quest for finding the right model to purchase. Just wanted to show that there are different viewpoints on different subjects.

I purchased the top Kitchen Aid dishwasher about a year ago. It is fantastic!! Purchased thru Whirlpool employee program. I ordered on-line on a Tuesday and they delivered and installed the following Monday. I saved over $500 compared to HD and Lowes for the same unit. I can give referrals - PM me if interested.

How do you wash a paper plate?

I already posted a 2nd to one Bosch endorsement, so this is my 3rd....LOL ! You'd think the villages has a lot of Bosch employees....LOL, but definitely no me. I already posted I thought it was "foolish" to spend the extra for a Bosch... how wrong I was !

Dishwasher purchase

We purchased a Bosch series 800 dishwasher from Best Buy. The reason for this particular dishwasher is it's quiet, 42 dBa. The dishwasher is located in the kitchen which is part of the "great room" in our house. As such, it's very nice to be able to run a quiet dishwasher while watching TV or doing anything else. The standard dishwashers that the builder supplies with the houses, even if you get upgraded appliances are basically junk. It's like having a jet in your house. The dishwasher was $1,299.

Great Bosch story

Our last house we had a new Bosch dishwasher installed, it made a funny noise, flooded and ruined our wood floors. We called Bosch and they were quick to blame it on the install. Bosch sent a rep out to test dishwasher and told us you have a “Friday dishwasher” as he found 3 things defective. Bosch replaced our dishwasher and paid for new wood flooring. Loved my Bosch and as soon as my Village dishwasher dies I’ll be getting a Bosch.

I was told that the secret to a quiet dishwasher is to have one with all stainless steel tub. Our last house (NY) and present house (TV) have stainless steel tubs that are extremely quiet. TV house has Bosch DW - you really can't hear it more than 1-2 feet away. I think NY house DW was LG (but not certain).
