Oh my the nerve of the developer to cause such angst. That said, we moved from a small bedroom community that began to expand and many comments there could be heard as are placed here. Oh the thought of more homes, stores etc. being built---such a travesty! (sarcasm intended) The developer does listen but he's got a business plan that was put into place many years ago. As for the roads etc.----they're made by the county and they have actual engineers who plan them. People come and are at first (emphasis made on "at first") impressed so they buy. They settle in THEN the complaints begin by saying "no one told me------(fill in the blank). Up north when folks complained they were called NIMBY's (Not In My Back Yard).

No, unfortunately she’s serious. Quite sad actually

As a previous poster said developers develop.
There was another post stating that developers do not listen to the people.
They do listen to the people that is why The Villages is expanding.
People want to live here, the only thing that is going to stop the expansion is when either they run out of buyers or the land because of scarcity becomes too expensive to turn a profit.
At the end of the day almost like everything else, profits are the motivator.

Or they might stop developing when the people they placed in elected offices in the counties they do business in, start listening to their constituents who say "stop letting them develop here."

And then the elected officials in our counties might tell the Developer: "sorry - no more zoning exceptions for you. This is agricultural land. You wanna grow a farm, great. Apartments/houses/rec center/commercial property? No can do."

All that being said…I wouldn’t want to be living anywhere else.

Problem is that it may be many years before it is fully developed. Look how long it took to get one gas station to open.

"The Best" is relative... It may be the best "FOR YOU", but others may feel differently.

Just be happy where you live. No one else really cares...

Knowing the poster I quoted, no, it wasn't...

Some seem to need something to worry about. Some look at their lawn and see it is green others look at the same lawn and see the weeds.

It has always been so. People criticize others. It is their fault. That is, it is not my fault.

We are a profit-oriented society, money takes precedence over everything else.

A famous man said that wars and pestilence keep the human population under control. As far as"money taking precedence over everything" sometimes HEALTH takes precedence over everything. If a Doctor tells a person that they have incurable cancer and have a month to live, would money REALLY take precedence over that?
..........For an All-Star Major League baseball player - is money the only motivation or do they also LOVE the competition and the thunderous applause of 50,000 spectators?
............Has there NEVER been a situation in history where someone chose LOVE over MONEY?

I would say the same for Fall, Winter, and Spring, but NOT Summer which is too HOT and predicted to keep getting HOTTER!

Actually no, if I was a developer I'd do what many developers have done to give back to their communities: I'd help develop a Land Trust to preserve a portion of undeveloped land to remain undeveloped.

OK then IF we assume that we have an upcoming water shortage then it is incumbent upon EVERY resident to remove their sod grass lawns and replace them with beautiful and durable rock gardens. That subtraction for water usage on lawns would solve any potential water shortage. So, in the interest of public service and general goodwill, we should all do what I am doing tonight - getting a shovel and ripping out my grass. And then will call in a truck for rocks tomorrow. Do it now........together we are strong......and no need for permits!
