Maybe next time you see a cop with Protect and Serve on his/her unit or sleeve, tell he or she that's not their job.

If you would have taken the time to google the "Protect and Serve" portion of that statement, you would have learned that they have no commitment to protect YOU, the individual on a one to one basis. So before making a comment get the facts, the Protect and Serve is for the community in general. So they are doing their job, everytime you get a speeding ticket, that is serving the community, everytime they catch a criminal who has committed a crime they are protecting the rest of the community. Now do you understand the "Protect and Serve."

Nobody said anything about individuals. So your lesson wasn't necessary.

Well, according to the person at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, they are doing more in The Villages portion of the County than other areas. If the have 5 patrol assets out, then 4 are in The Villages area. It was a nice conversation. The largest amount complaints these days are traffic accidents and dog poop calls. Boosted my opinion of the "proactive" Sheriff.

And this is the reason to call an raise holy hell with them??

Let's see, 4 patrols for how big an area? Just want kinds of 7 holy hell would you raise with them. Give this sheriff lots of credit, he is really being proactive as he can be with the assets that he has available. TV is not the only area that is he his to "protect and serve." Lets see how folks react tomorrow when the speed limits drop on the interior roads in Sumter County and few of them start getting tickets for speeding. Then the comments will be "Don't you have something better to do than ticket speeders."

Just goes to prove that you can not make all the people happy all the time or even some of the people happy some of the time.

Rereading my post about my call I really do think I was giving the SCSO credit for serving The Villages well. How did you take that as picking on them? I also said in the other post that if I were a resident I would be raising 7 kinds of Hell. I'm not, so I didn't. My questions about crime in The Villages were answered openly and honestly.

But wait. Individuals being responsible for their own safety could mean profit for those in the business of selling security, classes and training. Oh, I see now.

I do not see the point of adding this statement to your original post.

The Sheriff's Department is investigating this attempted burglary. I'm sure they are taking it seriously. I don't see how "raising seven kinds of hell" would help the situation.

I do expect crime will rise, as The Villages becomes a huge city with close to 100,000 residents. And I do expect the Police will continue to work hard to control crime.
