Some of these people come from areas with a faster pace of life and need to "decompress" Others will never change their attitudes. Hang in there, things will improve by April.

And then there are the crotchety full-timers who have no use for snowbirds/renters/guests/seasonal owners and strongly resent their arrival and demonstrate their aversion to same. They seem to believe that their year-round residency supersedes all others and entitles them to maintain their usual practices...like the couple who bypassed the restaurant waiting line and told the Hostess - "But we live here year-round!"

Parking a few extra spaces away is also a nice way to walk some for exercise.

Some want to get irritated at anything someone else does if they don't like it even if they are not doing anything wrong. Actually the complainers and name callers are the real problem, doubtful the other driver is still dwelling on it today or even remembers it.

How can you tell a snowbird, renter or tourist just by seeing them out and about in the Villages? Oh, I know the time I saw three white rental golf carts traveling together coming out of Lake Sumter and enter the round about. But other than that time I just can't tell.

She is not the one who seemed to be almost running me over to get to her mail. I really doubt if she remembers it either as she was quite full of herself after grabbing that parking space after scaring the :crap2: out of a guy trying to get his dog into his car seat.

Some people can argue about anything.

Thankfully, I usually just take the golf cart to the postal center and would not have had this kind of problem as it is easy to get in and out of it with a small dog in your arms. Not so much a small car with a dog seat.

Should have let her hit you at 2 mph, then call your lawyer in front of her. OOPS, forgot you ARE a lawyer!:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

No Surprise

This is no surprise. Yep, am a all year around person and from May to Dec have had no agresive problems. Now that part timers are here I have had at lease 2 vulgar finger signs and god knows how many crazy drivers. Just have to wait until May for calm behavior to return.:mornincoffee:

raynan 01-16-2016 04:39 PM

We went to a function at Lake Miona where a golf cart was parked to the right of a space but exactly in the middle lengthwise. We tried to pull left of it forward and we would have been in the space in front. We pulled back and we would have been hanging in the aisle so we parked evenly next to their cart. When we came out (we were there first) we hurried to get in our cart to move it and the other driver arrived and loudly stated to her friend "What happened to common courtesy? Aren't you suppose to stagger cart parking?". I was going to answer back but sometimes it's just not worth it. She was delayed getting into her cart by 2 seconds.

They Call It?

There's a term for this and it stemmed from a well publicized experiment (using ugh! rats) to determine the effect of overcrowding.

Welcome to The Villages in prime time and adjust your attitude when it comes to driving roads/multi-modal cart paths, all stores, all restaurants, all village golf courses all entertainment venues on the squares............

birdawg 01-16-2016 06:15 PM

I find it best to take up 2 spots this way you don't have to worry about getting hit by a car that comes to close.:BigApplause:

Oh, come on now! Even at the peak of snowbird time, The Villages is not over crowded. It is very busy but not over crowded!

You are absolutely right that for 4 months, we do have to plan restaurant times different and the squares will be full when good entertainment is there (Rocky and the Rollers). Still, this is the very best place most could ever hope for.

I would say almost everyone is friendly but there always will be the grumpy pants in any living situation. Just smile at them and realize you are in a wonderful place.

Many are not getting why I am having a problem with this. A car is a dangerous weapon and should not be used to push people along if you are impatient with them. There were probably 60 or more parking spots where this woman could have parked rather than using her car to speed me up from getting Beau into his car seat.

I can put up with the everyday grouches but when a dangerous weapon is concerned like a car; that is different. Pull this with your car against a cop putting his or her dog in the car and you would probably get tazed maybe even shot .

The added traffic does get taxing but there are more restaurant choices as well as more movie theater screens (24 now) and more places to shop. And 4 dog parks now even if one is not really worth calling a dog park.

I did keep my cool though and only gave the parking spot pig a dirty look while she was walking away. I hope that the lady in the van to the right of the parking space she forced he way into pointed out how unsafe her using her car as a bumper against a man and his dog is. I would have had her for assault with a dangerous weapon if she had touched me with her car or God forbid struck my dog because of her rush to get her mail.

So you're PO'd at the PC contractor. You are loading your dog into the car; a two second task. And there you are staring down an old woman, you refer to as a pig, trying to pull into a parking spot, daring her to touch you. Sounds like you were looking for a fight. You're lucky she wasn't a cop. She may have tased or shot you.

No, I think he is justifiably upset at the grump bucket who tried to use a 3000 pound vehicle to force him out of her way.

And what do you have against LEO's?

I read the posts, including yours- suggesting the driver, if a cop, might shoot or taze him. A LEO would not even think of that, and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

Well then you must have read Tals post stating that if he were a cop, the cop may have tazed or shot her? I was merely repeating what he said to illustrate the silliness of that scenario. So you need to vent on the original poster.

I never said if were a cop, that I would have done that. But if a person pushed their vehicle at a cop putting her dog into her cop car, I would not expect that scenario to go well for the person driving the car heading towards the police car.

I detect something personal here against me Outlaw. I got out of the woman's way as fast as I could. I did have to get Beau safe though.

And I am not sure how old this woman was/is. She could have been as young as 55. To maybe 75.

Same with Kahuna32162. I have had mean spirited posts from this person as well. I have no idea why these two people seem to have animosity towards me.

Rubicon,

The term you are talking about is behavioral sink.

A paper published by Calhoun was titled Population Density and Social Pathology.

Calhoun built a rat utopia, moved in a few rats, observed, and then published what happened when it became overpopulated.

You can Google to read all about it. But you might not want to........:22yikes:

It's High Season everywhere in Florida. The population has suddenly almost doubled.
Of course there are going to be rude drivers and lots of cranky people. It's not only happening in The Villages.

He poops at Doggie Doo Run Run usually. He likes to go to the Lynnhaven Postal Center to meet the few dozen pooches who also go there about that time. Some come with their dogs from other neighborhoods than Lynnhaven.

It takes about 10 seconds to get him properly into the car seat as you have to attach a clasp to his leash or else he moves around in the car, make sure his tail does not get hit by the door, and that he is facing the right way.

I would hope dog owners are not socializing at the postal stations. The sign clearly states "post office parking 10 minutes only".

Ours does not have that kind of sign that I can remember. Some non-dog owners chat for quite a long time as they are not busy walking their pooches.

I wonder why everything but the woman almost running me over is being discussed?

Haven't seen any sign like that either. Makes little sense since it is also the neighborhood pool and rec center.
