Warren - What is the source of your claim that "The Developer does not own the polo fields..."?

In looking at the Sumter County tax records, the parcel listed as 1031 N Buena Vista Blvd is shown as owned by the Villages of Lake-Sumter; and the parcel listed as 700 N Buena Vista Blvd [contingent to 1031] is shown as owned by the Villages of Lake-Sumter. Both properties have a mailing address as 1020 Lake Sumter Landing, The Villages, FL 32162. And if I read the cards correctly, both properties were sold/transferred fr Donald W Mathews, Individually and as Trustee to the Villages of Lake-Sumter way back on 1/31/2001.

Has something transpired that has not been updated on the property cards?

The Villages of Lake Sumter, Inc. (TVLSI)is the developer and that is the captioned in the IRS filings on the bond issue. I have been referring to TVLSI for sometime on these pages because some posters have such an affinity for the developer that if you said developer and a negative followed they became highly offended so I chose the commercialized and proper entity to emphasis that the comments were not personal but business

Central florida farm land according to OP it has been for sale for 3 years at 35 million... 12 million for a central florida farm seems like a good offer to me

I'll believe the new homes rumor, when I see bulldozers, grading the land.

Don't you love this rumor mill? Unfortunately sometimes they come true. What will be, will be. Que sera. I will still have my friends, my neighbors and my wonderful life here. As things get more crowded in the season I get food to go or, scary, I cook! I still live in Paradise.

This Rumor is not true.

According to the online news this morning.

"A much-circulated email in The Villages suggesting that the Morse family plans to pull up its polo stakes and move its ponies to Padua Stables is a rumor, according to Gary Lester of The Villages.
Lester made the comment in a Villages Homeowners Association town hall meeting on Tuesday.
He said The Villages and the Morses have no interest in Padua Stables.
At Welcome Wednesday, District officials also addressed the well-discussed rumor of the family purchasing the horse farm on U.S. 301 in Marion County indicating it is nothing more than a rumor with no validity, according to a VHA representative who regularly attends the weekly Welcome Wednesday meetings at the District Office at Lake Sumter Landing.
District officials indicated it is not a District matter, but reiterated Lester’s statements of the previous day."
