I like the way you think. How about a "real" Japanese restaurant. And maybe a Philippino restaurant as well.

I try not to be critical of the ethnic dining options here in The Villages (I knew that coming in), but I crave authentic Japanese, and not the fusion and Americanized places with their sugary sauces, and fried and battered proteins. For Filipino, I’ve learned to cook pretty authentic adobo, pancit and lumpia. But a restaurant would be nice. I found a place in Orlando that has awesome Halo Halo.

I cook quite a bit of Asian as well. I’m in Orlando once a week, and frequent the Asian markets there. There is a small Korean market in Ocala that is also good. I also supplement with deliveries of non-perishable items. My Asian Market comment was more wishful thinking - there is not a demand here in The Villages (yet anyway) to make that a viable option.

Hmmm…I don’t know.
The Japanese restaurants in Lake Sumter Landing and Colony Plaza have both been in business for 12+ years.
You don’t have to be Asian to love ‘em.
I think an Asian Market would thrive

Costco? Hobby Lobby? 7/11, Citizens First and a car wash?

Will there be a tunnel under 470 from Megisson?

In any case the desert wasteland that is Lake Denham and Dabney may be getting some new life. :D

Wasteland..?? Ok mr privilege tell us all how awesome your house is compared to my little hut in my wasteland..

It’d be nice to have a Sonic, TJ’s, Home Goods, Walmart grocery— but it’ll be the usual mom & pop stores that the developer favors.

I suggest a mattress store, nail salon, bank, and laundramat.

Costco and Hobby Lobby is already close enough to there. Maybe a Walmart, Trader Joes, Total Wine and a gas station.

My house is in lake Denham and my comment was meant as humorous sarcasm of how people up north describe our area.

Asian Markets

Okay, some here mentioning Asian Markets. What are you buying at Asian markets that you can't get in a regular grocery store?

It's a very stage shaped property, so probably more to come.

It will be interesting to see what goes in there.

If it’s Villages owned, you can go to any of the many commercial plazas and see what will be in the new plaza.

It’s not like the formula changes.

Restaurant on either end, grocery store in the middle, nails, BBQ place, eye doc or HairCuttery - you know the routine.

The permits indicate the property is Villages owned.

Not all property across from Dabney is Villages owned. There is an apartment complex being built also that was approved by Leesburg not long ago.
Leesburg commission approves rezoning for apartments, commercial complex across from The Villages – GrowthSpotter
