My husband and I went tonight for dinner. The burgers were excellent, had sweet potato fries and the onion rings (they are the best). Service was great also. We will definitely go back!

An interesting experience [ at least for me ]with dogs in public places .
Being raised about 90 miles from Montreal and 60 miles from Ottawa very near the Canadian Border and in a climate where winter set in about Nov. 1st and the snow finally melted in late April our major sport was Ice Hockey which I lived for .

I was a " commuting" student attending a near by State University College .
This allowed me to become a coach in the youth program of my native small town. One of my " kids " grew up and became the 1st pick in the second round of the NHL Draft . He went on to play at Western Michigan and then on to the NJ Devils organization .
He was assigned to the next level down in the American Hockey League . After a few season he headed to Switzerland where he became a big star in their professional league . In the late 90`s I ventured over to Zurich to watch him in their league Play-offs .
Whenever we went to any type of restaurant even very fine dining establishments I was amazed to often see dogs literally sitting on chairs at the table as the families enjoyed their meals .
When we went into very nice Malls and large Department Stores it was very common to see dogs on leashes accompanying their owners .
My friend explained that it was culturally expectable to bring dogs into stores and into dining establishments . I must add that to my amazement I never saw a dog who was ill behaved or relieved themselves or seemed to pay any attention to any other canine in their purview . Nor did they seem to be outwardly interested in the food which was served at their tables .
Initially I thought that it just must be a phenomena in Switzerland . However one evening we crossed the Border into Germany to dine at a well respected Steak-House . There again dogs were sitting at the table . Again my friend offered up that the dogs are raised to behave properly .
I had arranged to stay for two weeks for what was to be two rounds of play-offs . However in the second game my friend clocked an opponent with a high stick and received a league administered ban for the remainder of the play-offs !
During my stay I learned a great deal about the organization of government and life in Switzerland which was much different than our governance here in the US . If I don`t end up with my own ban from this site for my several postings in the past 24 hours I may take the risk to describe what I learned .

If one enjoys what happens in other countries as compared to the freedoms found in the USA then maybe its best for them to live there!

My dogs eat at home and never have asked to eat out. I choose not to infringe on other peoples meal time with my animals! Restaurants are for people (Humans)! Not animals!

There are restaurants in certain urban areas ( e.g. Atlanta, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Boston) where dogs are welcomed in certain areas of very fine restaurants. Perhaps you should reconsider where you live! And the health departments approve and inspect the restaurants. I think you are being more than a bit harsh.

You are so right...enough is enough! It is really quite simple folks...if a place allows dogs and you don't want to be around dogs...then don't go! The choice is very simple!

We went to Square 1 Burger last night with our dog. We dined outside and we had wonderful dinner, our dog , had chicken patty with fresh broccoli for 2.99.
Yes, they do have the cutest Doggie menu . In my opinion the food was excellent but a little salty and we just loved the idea that we can bring our dog.

Also, Spanish Springs Town Square was the first to be built, so it is Square One. :jester:

We were there last night and our group of 5 had different things. Everything was superb and the service was wonderful. In fact we commented to them that it was amazing service and food especially for only being opened less than 2 weeks.

Just got back from Square 1. Really liked the atmosphere. Our party of four arrived as they were changing shifts and there was some confusion as a result of that. Everyone thought the burgers were outstanding; however our bill came to $50 with the tip. This included 2 happy hour drinks each and burgers - no appetizers or desert. Little pricey for my budget, but am glad to have had the experience. Probably won't go back because of the price - can make them at home just as good, if not better, for no where near the cost. At this stage of my life when I go out to eat I'm willing to pay if they can do it better than me. But I'm Italian and love to cook so that probably explains things! I would highly encourage you to go just to check it out and enjoy the concept.

P.S. They really do have a doggie menu and if I did go back it would be to support this dog friendly concept. There were no dogs on the patio when I was there but it was a little cool out.

Thanks for that info Diane ... I'm glad you enjoyed your experience.
I've never heard of a restaurant having a Doggie menu.
It's a very clever idea. :clap2:
But please don't tell my two furry friends or they'll be bugging me to take them.

I visited Square 1 on Thursday night - it was pretty good but not sure I would have the Kobe burger again for the price - the angus beef burger was just as good if not better. The onion rings were yummy.... and the only issue I had was that the happy hour included martini's but only Vodka - no gin martinis so i had to pay $9.00 for a gin martini when my friend paid $3.00 for a vodka martini... I dont get it?!

Had lunch today at Square 1. When we arrived, the place was filled with diners and there were quite a few people waiting outside. Got our pager from the hostess and step outside to wait....which wasn't a long wait. Sat at one of the high tables and our server arrived promptly. Got our drinks, placed our orders, sat back and watch as food was delivered to tables. All looked delicious. Our orders arrived fairly quickly....an All American burger and a Philly burger with onion rings as our side. There was a mistake in the kitchen, my burger came on a different roll than I asked for, and it also had cheese, which I asked to be omitted. The burger looked so good that I chose not to have it replaced. It was absolutely delicious and the cheese turned out to be perfect on this burger.
The onion rings side was more than enough and they were crispy and hot.
I know we'll be heading back again and again....)
