I agree with Talk Host that a primary purpose of the Daily Sun, owned by the developer of TV, is to sell houses in TV (not rocket science...). This being the case, you can be sure that any article that might show 'warts' (and for goodness sakes, there isn't a place in the world that doesn't have them!) will not appear in the Daily Sun, whereas what is published in the Orlando Sentinel is not similarly controlled by the developer of TV.

If one wants to live completely Pollyanna style, then read only the Daily Sun. If one wants to see the 'warts,' then read only the Orlando Sentinel. And for those who want the "fair and balanced" picture that Benj mentioned in his post, then read both!

Sidney.

I just love to read what you have to say and can't wait to meet you. You are always so fair and that is such a wonderful thing to read. I always gain something from your posts. You are right as always. You make me think and frequently make me question what I thought was a correct assumption. I have changed my mind more than once after reading your observations!

And may I add, ask questions or do whatever else you can to find out the "truth", if something disturbs you. Don't be quick to assume that life in The Villages is perfect, or that an evil plot is afoot. Judge for yourself if living here suits you. In other words, keep your eyes open, while enjoying your life.

GG, thanks for your kind words! We will meet somewhere along the line, I'm sure; we just need to stay still long enough.... (My wife is a travel agent and we are constantly on the go--when we're not snowbirding and up north!)

Somewhere along the way I learned to 'take the cotton out of my ears and put it in my mouth,' or in other words, do a lot more listening and observing than talking. Sometimes I need to remind myself that I can get tired of the sound of my own voice....

Yes, as Carole 131 says, ask those questions and listen to the answers. Note if it's a minority voice attempting to speak for everyone rather than making an individual statement. "Do whatever else you can to find out the 'truth' could mean, for example, my suggestion to read the Daily Sun and the Orlando Sentinel for that "balanced" picture that Benj mentioned in his post. It helps that Carole put the word "truth" in quotes, since our individual differences will give us all different ideas of what "the truth" is, and we must judge for ourselves if the next person's "truth" feels right for ourselves.

I keep alluding to an issue we had here that I MUST find the time to write and post; it was not a good experience, but I will present it as OUR bad experience only and not a generalization about TV. Of course TV isn't perfect, as I said in my earlier post; every place has its 'warts.' But yes, absolutely, enjoy your life, and at the risk of sounding hokey, with a positive, upbeat attitude!
