forum

only negative remarks on contractors and resturants.
Nobody writes anything positive or nice. These people are trying to make a living

Totally agree. There are four or five posters that are the Covid Warriors. They will argue with each other ALL day long over the same thing. I'm surprised they actually take time out to eat. A couple of them post upwards of 50 times a day. If Covid ever goes away I wonder what these people will do? They'll have to learn to live life all over again.

I only pop in once or twice a day now just to see if there's anything related to The Villages and the lifestyle. If I want to get information on the state of Covid this isn't the place I'm going to do it.

Let’s whine about golf, course conditions, too much rain , not enough rain, the heat and dog poop.

I disagree. TOTV is remarkably civil and restrained compared to many other like sites.

That last statement about vaccine attitudes being fixed IS completely WRONG. In general, attitudes like fashion are constantly CHANGING. For example, Hula-hoops and bell-bottom pants have come and gone in fashion. It is the same for attitudes concerning Public Health - they are NOT fixed. Attitudes toward CV have been constantly changing since the Pandemic 1st came to the US. There are VERY IMPORTANT daily changes in the severity of CV that are affecting ALL Florida and US citizens.

The Delta variant is proving to be BOTH more contagious and MORE SEVERE! No one should try to HIDE from that news. Attitudes MUST change over that news. Also, Delta is putting more younger people in hospitals across the US. At a large Jacksonville hospital, the average of CV patients IS AGE 42. And statewide in Florida, 76% more people are getting VACCINATED this week than last week.

This proves that 76% of Floridians have CHANGED their attitudes toward vaccines. To believe that vaccine attitudes will NEVER change is to live in a PRETEND unchanging world. Ignoring important Public Health information can be more dangerous than taking the time to know the issues.

I applaud TOTV for providing such a useful and great asset for residents and those thinking of becoming residents of The Villages.
I am worried just a bit when there are those on here that espouse the denial of the Freedom of Speech based solely on the idea that they find someone's opinion to be "unbearable."
I must be using the old version of software on my computers because I am able to disregard those subjects that I find "unbearable" and move on to subjects that I find interesting. Since I am not interested (anymore) in speed bumps, gates and dog poop, I simply move on past the subject and go to a subject I find interesting. Is it my version of software OR is it that I am not addicted to subjects that I am not interested in and am able to pass them by without wringing my hands as I read every detail. less I miss something?
It is interesting that the same folks that find it tedious to read posts that they do not agree with, are the same folks that listen to opinions on television and bow to so-called experts that are found in error on a weekly basis.
I would rather see NO censor than posts eliminated, BUT it is not my forum and I willingly agree to the rules, no matter how many times I unknowingly step over the line.

I agree completely. There are numerous threads I don't read. I guess my browser is defective and doesn't inflict me with arguments over dog poop.

I did feel that my comments were not as unkind as other comments, but it is hard not to get all mad some times. Some people enjoy that happening and I think sometime it is the main reason for their posts.

It's their drug of choice. A lot cheaper for them than going to the pharmacy for their anti-depressants.

Too bad the mainstream media doesn't have your opinion.

There has been and always will be people who will feel threatened by "other" and do whatever it takes to put them down, in order to stay on top.

This may be embedded in human genes from the Anthropological far back TRIBAL time. If someone is not recognized as MY tribal member they're the "stranger" and may try to kill ME. So, I must run back to my tribe and organize a HUNT for the "stranger". Today we have a very large, but unwieldy TRIBE called the United States and a smaller tribe called Florida - and those tribes disagree and function differently. And within Florida, we have various ethnic TRIBES. Depending on the real or perceived threat from some other TRIBE, we retreat to one of our other convenient TRIBES. The anthropological pressure within us may often overcome our modern logical ideas. It seems like an internal tug-of-war!

I have conservative values but I also value your comment. I agree with you about the value of civil debate.

Not to mention the idiocy of all the posts where the authors are constantly "rolling on the floor laughing"

If that's me, I like my three rolling on the floor laughing little men, so don't expect that to change. As far as "idiots" go, my IQ is 179, so, in comparison, who do you think I consider the "idiot"?????
