The swinger rumor came from Leisureville's Andrew Blechman. He claimed in the book there was a swingers club but he never found it. I have read this book at least three times and I am now convinced he used such sensationalism to hawk his book. The book's excerpts were picked up by newspapers and ergo the continuing g legs for this unsubstantiated rumor.
I also met the neighbors he stayed with here when writing his book.

Blechman believed that when people retired they should stay in their neighborhoods. He couldn't understand the needs and wants of people who worked and saved their entire lives. Florida for instance offers a break on taxes . Because he didn't understand it he took a negative view

He had his fifteen minutes of fame............................

I have heard this does exist. Surprised me a lot, but am pretty sure it does in some way due to the person who told me some sketchy details. And this was Very recently. Perhaps not a large number but guess if we really knew what goes on in society, we would find that TV is just a microcosm of the general population out there. And as more people come here, the more "diversity."

DaleMN 01-19-2014 11:18 PM

People would be surprised, I think, of the number of people and couples who are swingers or have experimented, at least, with swinging.

DougB 01-19-2014 11:44 PM

What rec center do they meet at? Can't find it listed in the Recreation News.

2BNTV 01-20-2014 01:07 AM

I'm sure this does exist in society but where, who knows? I for one, am not interested.

A lot of people like to get aerobics with their tongues, and really has no substantial proof of the facts. I consider this another rumor, that has been perpetuated by folks who like to gossip.

Nuff said.....

I remember in the 1970s as a young bride in a new community, being told about "key parties". Every time we were asked out socially, I was petrified that the evening would end in a sordid request for key exchanges. But it never happened there, and I doubt it happens much in The Villages either.

These little canards develop legs and it amuses people to pass them along.

Swinging is a lifestyle that is undoubtedly occurring in any modern community, especially a large one of 100k like TV.

Many have argued in other ToTV threads that the citizens are still vibrant, sexual beings at any age, yet argue that casual sex doesn't exist on this thread. Counterintuitive.

The casual, consensual sexual lifestyle at TV likely has more participants than the chess club, but fewer than play pickleball.

Most who enjoy a swingers lifestyle, typically couples, are discreet about it and only share the knowledge with other like minded individuals. Unlike a plumber, who might wear a shirt that says, "plumbers lay better pipe", a swinger would never wear a shirt that says," swinging ain't just for chimpanzees".

How do swingers meet one another then? By mouth.

There are more nudists among you than meets the eye also, but most find that less offensive than swinging. Most, but not all, nudists do not swing. Surveys have shown that more nudists swing than there are swingers in the general population, yet most nudists do not swing; this may reflect the open mindedness of those that are nudists. Surveys also show that more nudists play volleyball than the general population; this may reflect a desire to see body parts jiggle.

Contrary to the belief of some, swingers do not hang out in bars, strip clubs, the adult magazine section of Publix or advertise in the yellow pages. They meet through others with similar interests, just like accordion players and polka enthusiasts.

Spin the bottle and key exchanges with swingers are no more common than are debutante balls for longshoremen on leave.

If I sound like I know something about this, I do a lot of reading. Lol.

OK, for swingers only:::

Give us the real deal, is there is or is there ain't swingers in the villages and if there is, why are they not listed in the recreation news?

Good point. Maybe they like to swing but are flying low, to keep undercover.

Oh no, under the covers..... :jester:

TV and Swingers

I would bet that there are a lot more churches in The Villages than there are swingers clubs. But that won't sell books or newspapers.

rubicon 01-20-2014 04:06 PM

I wonder why when people speak of nudist or swingers, etc they always refer to them as being open minded"? Perhaps others would describe them differently?

I guess that I am one of those closed minded types they believes one should honor their oaths, vows allegiances?

Be ready for Blechman to publish Leisureville 2

If all parties are in complete agreement and they don't do it in public or with malice I guess I see no harm in it. There are terrible things that spouses do to one another and some of those folks may judge swingers harshly.

manaboutown 01-20-2014 07:19 PM

IMHO swingers are not hurting anyone or posing a danger to society. They are not breaking the law. Who cares what happens between or, in the case of swingers, among consenting adults. Different strokes for different folks (pun intended).

I am sure every county also has similar if you type in search bar for that county but you know it is what it is!! .... Oh no, now I must not get suspicious of my single neighbors that always have multi-car/golf carts outside their homes on a regular basis ... :-)

Nice first post! :eclipsee_gold_cup:

You mean that after two years of going to bed at 10
and spending endless hours polishing my golf cart and
stringing my old fishing reels this is going on outside my door?
If anyone finds out where these filthy parties are held please
E mail me.

I would rather see couples swinging than the ever popular cheating on the spouse.

A couple that plays together stays together.

DDoug 01-21-2014 06:13 AM

Not just your single neighbors.

Live and let live...

I have been here 2+ years and have yet to see anything close to swinging.

Why do people continue to perpetuate these rumors? I have yet to see anything that substantiates these rumors.

I did hear that people with private pools occasionally swim nude, but that is a significantly different than swingers, or cheating on ones spouse. We have all skinny sipped once in our lifetime.

"Live and let live"

rubicon 01-21-2014 07:57 AM

I see no harm in people doing consensual what they chose to do and logic along those line is troubling. First, I wonder if the kids of these parents agree with statements like this?

These statements explain why this nation has better than a 50% divorce rate. It explains why there are more unwed mothers now than ever before.

Parents are suppose to be role models and disciplinarians. The destruction of the family unit is the single highest cause of this nation's decline

What was once sacrosanct honor ,integrity, allegiance, civility, trust devotion and dedication all seem to be set on a sliding scale . So its OK if I sleep with my neighbors wife I have permission. Its OK if a steal company products because I deserve it and beside they don't pay me enough. Its OK if I file a fraud or exaggerated insurance claim I have paid plenty in insurance premiums........................................an d the beat goes on

Happydaz 01-21-2014 08:25 AM

There are no facts on this whole thread. People just make up things to say, philosophize, and then make broad sweeping generalizations. As a person who worked in the scientific area it amazes me that people continue to talk about things they have no first hand experience in. Sheer conjecture.

Let's see, I heard from someone on a train in Budapest that the Villages has a devil worshipping cult. They meet in the squares late at night when all the other Villagers are asleep. I believe the man who told me this on the train out of Budapest because he had an honest face and wore a Red Sox T shirt. "Besides there is always a little truth in every rumor."

PaPaLarry 01-21-2014 04:53 PM

I really think this is over dramatized!!!!
