What they have done so far has attracted and mostly satisfied the 90,000+ who are here now.

There are, in my opinion two categories; one amenity like adds and second retail/consumer/commercial opportunities.

The amenity add are the ones "needed the least to make build out happen.

The retail/consumer/commercial will be a function of space available and where and new business prospects that are not yet in TV.

And in my opinion the surveys of today mean something very different to the developer than they did the past 10 years.

After build out, existing and future amenities will take on that ugly aura of what can the (then) budget afford. And adding new "wants" will be a function of how much additional fees/assessments are residents willing to pay?

Repair/replace/fix/upgrade existing are good targets now. And by all means let's try to get more commercial enterprise south of 466A because it is sorely lacking compared to the commercial infrastructure installation of the past.

Great post!

Put hot tubs at every adult neighborhood pool area. My body aches and a hot tub makes it feel so much better. No I can't buy one, no extra $ and no room! There is one over in the historic section that I have been too but too far away.

Hot tubs at adult pools is a great idea! I would also like to see them build a dedicated track for racing radio controlled model cars.

I should like to see the "Residents Only" restriction lifted on a few of those empty spots so that we may take our visitors to them with us

Even at quiet times at the sports pools, it can be difficult to find an empty lane to swim laps. I do not want non residents to have access to our sports pools.

I agree. No golfer would want non-residents using our executive courses because a couple of holes are empty in the evenings or slower months. Users of the sport pools deserve the same respect.

I'd like to see another way for those of us wast of 441/72 to get to the other side in our golf carts. Currently the golf cart bridge is the only route.
I live in Silver Lake (The "Historic District") about a half mile from the CVS on Avenida Central. In order to get to CVS, I travel a mile to the bridge and then another mile from the bridge to CVS. It's actually almost 2-1/2 miles.

A tunnel would be nice from Griffin Ave to Avenida Central.

Another tunnel going from the Target shopping center to the Best Buy area would also be great. And while we're at it, how about golf cart access to Home Depot and Sam's Club.

Some of this could be accomplished by simply allowing golf carts to use the cross walk between Griffin and Avenida Central over 441/27. If it's safe enough to walk across, how is it not safe for a golf cart?

This could all be accomplished by lowering the speed limit on those cross streets to 30 MPH, then golf carts could go right across. Of coarse the car drivers would have to be able to handle a car at those lower speeds without being distracted.

Please...please....a 4 way stop where carts enter the road by the Colony Rec Center...so dangerous and difficult for carts to get on the road.

Also, a family/breakfast restaurant in Colony Plaza or near Brownwood.

Both excellent suggestions.

Please change the Thursday rec guide so it is in alphabetical order!
And, please stagger the water aerobics classes so that the lap swimmers, exercisers, etc can use the pool at the coveted 9;00 am slot. There is a water aerobics class EVERY day at that time, please stagger!

Just wondering where the money will come from for some of these pie-in-the-sky ideas?

buggyone 03-10-2013 12:34 PM

I have been reading a lot of the suggestions and a lot are RIDICULOUS.

Someone wants an indoor shooting range. Go to Eustis and do your shooting there - and not on my dime!

Grandchildren playground? This is an active adult community. Take the grandkids to a state park instead of spending money on swings and slides.

Indoor pools are not necessary. The outdoor pools are plentiful and are heated to 80 degrees.

Hot tubs at the adult neighborhood pools? How many adults would be getting out of the hot tubs every time "nature called"? Just what I want to be sitting in hot water with! :loco:

Hey Buggyone, look at all the golf courses, tennis courts, pickle ball courts etc. on MY dime and I don't play any of that, but you complain about 1 indoor shooting range? You said it "RIDICULOUS"

mulligan 03-10-2013 05:22 PM

To me, that seems appropriate for a golf community.......just sayin'

Thank you. I definitely think that an indoor shooting range is ridiculous. Just think of the liability insurance that would be needed for such a facility.

Glad you agree with me.

If someone wants to live in a shooting community, I saw a website for a "patriot" compound someone is selling shares in somewhere in Idaho or Wyoming. Everyone would be required to own and qualify with both handguns and long guns.

Personally, I like living in a golfing community.
