It is tedious but you can call the company that is sending you and former owners junk mail and ask to be taken off mailing list. Number is listed on the mail. It worked for me. I just get the inserts now that are mailed to current resident

What’s the big deal? Just toss it in the trash. Btw, the villages has nothing to do with all of your junk mail.

The post office needs money, so drop bulk rate mail and charge everyone the same rate. That could lower first class rates and save millions of trees.

I just take those "No Postage Necessary" envelopes a lot of the solicitors include in the junk mail, tape it to a brick, and toss it in a mailbox. They can pay for it all day long.

About 20 years ago I was a caregiver to my father. During that time, we got so much junk mail for him and for us. I was with a group of caregivers, and someone brought this topic up. They said to collect the junk and then send all of it back in one of the envelopes. We all did this. It didn't hurt any of the businesses much, but they did have to pay for the extra postage when they received it on their end.

Just found this when searching for the DMA Choice info. Maybe it will help you.

"If you are received a deceased person's mail because you are the current occupant of their mailing address, simply write “Deceased, Return to Sender” on all mail meant for the deceased person. Leave it in your mailbox just like any other letter."

Just put up with the junk mail as the income from it is the only thing that keeps 1st class mail from skyrocketing to extreme heights. It is an inconvenience to have to go through all the trouble of throwing it away, but much less trouble than paying $10.00 or more for a 1st class postage stamp. Thanks

direct mail has a low success rate...but it has to be working, otherwise they'd be knocking on your door, or calling you at your dinner hour

The one consulation is the bulk [no pun intended] of the employees salary
is covered by the delivery of bulk mail....

I asked the post person delivering the mail if they are tired of delivering the junk mail. They said the junk mail is the best for them because without junk mail they would be out of a job.

Tax dollars? Not for USPS
