I heard in on the grapevine that anyone who can get qualified for a big enough mortgage to purchase a home is considered to be 55.

my problem is with "but I have heard" if you allow this to control your life, you better hold on. I tell you, what you hear and what is real are two very different things. I hear that you are a fool, but I don't know that to be a fact. do you get where I am coming from? does someone under 55 living here change your life? have you ever violated any of the Villages rules like your golf cart goes faster than 20 mph. people who live in glass houses.

I served on an HOA board in southern FL... the requirement is that at least one individual in a home be over 55... the 80/20 rule is in play...as long as 80% of the homes comply, it passes the test in the state of FL to be designated a 55+ community

we would screen anyone looking to buy into our HOA...obviously you can tell by looking at a lot of people that they are over 55....the challenge that popped up was when mom & dad passed on and the kids moved in....trying to force them out to maintain the 80/20 requirement was extremely difficult

Lets beat this dead horse 1 more time. I have read this at least 5 times in the past year. Why ask totv. Call the Villages development district and ask this rhetorical question.

I’ve heard the villages allows 20% of residents can be under 55 as long as you don’t have children living with you ?

When we bought our first house I was over 55 but my husband was younger. When we closed I asked the same question and was told only one person needs to be over 55 so in answer to your question you could have someone under 55 living with you.

I have been her three years and I still have problem seeing those under 55 living here They all must be a moving target. People must assumed the under 55 group are the ones that visit the Town Squares nightly. They Must surely live here.

Hi there...it is my understanding that if at least one person in the household is 55+ it is ok to have a younger adult to live with you.

It’s the 80/20/rule, difficult to enforce and impossible to comply, no one under 20 years old can be a permanent resident (Limited to 3 month only), most people either live in the parents titled home or on a home that is owned by a trust, but the 80%/20% Rule applies

Under 19 years is allowed if their is a health or mental issue with that individual and they are being taken care of by the home's owner/occupant. Otherwise, under 19 cannot live in the home.
