Since the 80's, who uses, cares, or could even find a viable Shopping Mall? Most Malls, if they still exist, are junk flea market-type vendors, shoe stores, vape shops/tattoo parlors, and a strange food court. However, if a shopping Mall and affordability is what you desire: Check out the 55+ mobile home park "Lakes at Leesburg". It is right next door to the run-down Lake Square Mall and you'll find everything air-conditioned and affordable. You can even ride your Golf cart to Home Depot. Also, Steak and Shake is right across the street with the value meal list of "under $5 meal deals".

Soooo, there are nursing homes all over the world you can put your mother in. Yet you love living in this "miserable" place or you would have already left. I love it here. No better place comes close to TV...

Perhaps maybe Joe was talking about a person he knows in TV that was complaining? Nowhere did he mention he was moving. Secondly, a week today everyone was sitting at their Thanksgiving table giving thanks. How can one give Thanks, then be so cruel the next week. There is no need to make fun of someone. And for the comments of the spelling, Hello, it could happen when using your cell phone keyboard. Why is it so hard to be nice but so easy to be cruel to another human being...

Some people have difficulty with reality testing.

PS: January 1st 2010 saw 40,627 new laws on the books in the USA
40,000 Laws going into effect on one New Year’s Day, makes you wonder how many laws there are on the books in this country. Good luck avoiding the "rules", might I suggest the "Village of Anarchy"?:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Been here 10 years and there is no place I would rather be.

tallmanf 12-02-2021 06:51 AM

My wife and I say everyday “ We are so lucky to live here!” Please enjoy what is left of your life. If this isn’t the place for you. There are plenty of other places to go. Don’t like the traffic, try country living where everything is at least 20 miles away and so on.

BlueStarAirlines 12-02-2021 06:54 AM

I did a lot of researching before deciding on TV, so can offer one solution if unhappy here. If shopping is important...like one of the most important things...Lakewood Ranch is the place to move to. Like TV, they also have "villages" that make up LR with two of them being 55+. Right outside LR on University Drive there is a massive amount of shopping to include a mall. There is also a Total Wine store, which was pretty impressive. One exit north of LR is a Costco. As an added bonus, all "villages" are truly gated.

For me, there were several negatives. First, non golf-cart community, so everything involves driving. It's a fairly big development, so there is a lot of driving! The HOA fees were a downside and seemed to be starting at $550 a month (amount depended on the "village"). The two 55+ developments were not all that nice had had minimal clubs and activities. The LR focus really is on families.

All that being said, if all you want is shopping and gated communities it's probably your best choice.

Bethwill 12-02-2021 07:08 AM

Thanks, Mr. OBVIOUS. You might want to use your Spell Check.

Pupiczech 12-02-2021 07:19 AM

Spell check is not the problem. Grammar check has yet to be invented.

MidWestIA 12-02-2021 07:24 AM

list

You forgot it is VERY isolated and - this many old people driving around in golf carts makes alot of cliques - really it's like high school. Almost everyone is not working for a living so it is alot like it was in high school.

Luggage 12-02-2021 07:29 AM

Funny my hoa fee is $217 and I get free internet 300 channels on my TV etc. You must be thinking of those high price condos in Miami. Yes the villages is not for people who don't drive or know how to use a golf cart but there are about 20 Senior communities in the area and almost all of them have hundreds of clubs to join to meet new people and that's probably the number one advantage of being in a community like ours or yours or theirs

WesMan 12-02-2021 07:32 AM

Leave and stop complaining!!

Kgcetm 12-02-2021 07:34 AM

I guess I really don't understand your point. Why would you be here and not know those things. The mind must have a process.

Driver8 12-02-2021 07:35 AM

We're in the sub tropics dude. What did you expect, San Diego weather?

terenceanne 12-02-2021 08:18 AM

May I suggest Portland, New York or Chicago as much better places to live - Just saying.

MrFlorida 12-02-2021 08:29 AM

If you don't like it here, then you will not like it anywhere.....some people you just can't please. Let us know where you live, and we'll help you pack.

Joe C. 12-02-2021 08:32 AM

No matter where you live, there is a plus and a minus to many aspects. Weather too hot or too cold, too much traffic or too far to the shopping centers, high taxes or not enough public services. Take your pick.....there's no perfect place to live. If I didn't want a good place for my wife to live, I'd opt for somewhere other than TV to live. But she likes it, so I won't complain.

rsmurano 12-02-2021 08:45 AM

It was very hard to decipher the rant. If you can’t drive, assisted living is your next option.

Goinghiway 12-02-2021 08:56 AM

I live in the villages and could easily live here without a car. There are 5 golf car accessible grocery stores near us. We are involved in many activities besides golf. I have heard only 50% of residents play golf. Softball is very popular. The fees are very reasonable compared to other communities.
The heat is part of being in Florida. We found we could acclimate by spending time outside and NOT using the A/C in the car.
Hope you find a place you like.

KAM+6 12-02-2021 09:00 AM

Yesterday I had a chance to read previous posts of the OP. It seem s that he does not live in TV. He lives in a condo in the NY and paying$550 condo fees. Does not drive and is looking for a woman, one that can drive. Said he would never buy in TV

The beauty of life … we have choice!

Shirleyq 12-02-2021 09:32 AM

I have lived in The Villages for 7 yrs & love it. I don't have a car but I do have two golf carts. One is a convertible. Yes there are a couple of places I can't get to by cart so I take UBER/ LYFT. I may spend up to $100 per month on the taxi's. Consider what a car costs. So-So So many activities here, I have never found any place to compare. If you know of one please let me know. I'm up for a second home/condo.

First of all, spellcheck is your friend. Secondly, you’re right. The Villages is not for everyone. Third, yes, it’s hot and humid. That’s what Florida weather is like.

I hope you find someplace that suits you.

Bjeanj- we lived in TV for 8 yrs. then moved to Texas for a reason that suits us. Believe me summers in Texas are a heck of a lot hotter than TV. We had 2+ weeks of 110 degrees & very seldom got less than 90. But from Nov. thru Mar. it’s cold to jacket weather. This is just my opinion, everybody is different about hot, warm or cold weather!

Well, as Mom used to say when we complained; "you'd b_tch if you were hung with a new rope". Never really did figure out what that meant. But to each his own, I guess.

charlieo1126@gmail.com 12-02-2021 10:26 AM

I don’t play golf . I’ve only been in rec centers to vote and haven’t been in one of the pools for more years then I can count , but I do love the beauty and order of the place , the Sharon , the squares and so many other things and if you want a big mall , I’m headed to one this afternoon theMall of Millenia in Orlando to shop for presents and clothes for me that I don’t need lol about 45 minutes on a str8 road

New rope can be very scratchy on the skin...

They can leave a nasty rope burn... :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

What do you mean low traffic in season? Has something changed down there?

Low traffic in season? I don't think so. Also, if you think an eighty old person with a paper stop sign makes the villages gated, you must be not paying attention

john1006 12-02-2021 01:04 PM

Joe, this is easy, instead of telling us what you don't like, just don't live here.

So you don’t live here anymore?

It’s Xmas, people should be kind to each other instead of rude. Sometimes neighbors want to say what is in their mind and we need to be gentle in the reply. They may be very elderly

skyking 12-02-2021 02:37 PM

?????
"villiages" vs. Villages
"frees" vs. fees
"Alot" vs. a lot
"their" vs. there
"here" vs. hear
"impotent" vs. important
"and home" vs. a home

It is very hard to take your criticism seriously when you have less than a third grade education.

We are all elderly. When you post gibberish this is what happens.

Bingo!! It's not the way I do it, but it makes a lot more sense than the way I do it.:)
