I agree with the Doc, I don't see why it matters. If it's done safely, so be it.

If you are passing aren't you exceeding the speed lime of 20mph for golf carts.. My cart has a governor on it set at 20mph and am passed by people

:what::what::what:

Not if you're passing a cart going 12 mph.

I like speed limes, I put them in margaritas , limit of 2:a20::a20::a20:

I can agree, but I'm seeing some real issues develop. Twice in the past week i've seen carts pull out to pass a slower cart without checking for traffic. The car that almost took out those carts was mine. At the 30 mph limit on our major internal roads you close distance pretty quickly with a car.

I have no idea how many times I am passed on a MMP?

I do know that I will not pass anyone who is going at least 16mph.

I do know that I will not pass at all unless I am certain it can be done safely.

I do know that when I am approaching a walker who is on either side of the MMP I will slow down to almost a stop because a) I don't want to frighten them b) too often golf cart drivers coming from the opposite direction seem not to have a concern and will just speed up to bypass walkers.

I do know that a major portion of the day MMP traffic is too high that passing is often not an option.

I do understand having a concern for safety but then I have a live let live philosophy.

This is so true. On US 20 in NY, the 14 mile stretch of road from Auburn to Seneca Falls has just 1 area to pass. I can't count the number of times I would get stuck behind some jerk driving 40 (limit is 55), but when we get to the passing zone the jerk is up to 80, then back to 40 after the passing zone. I had to learn how to accelerate to 95 real quick to pass them.

You too:1rotfl:

Go easy on them, as they've obviously missed the plethora of threads on this subject. :D

If they're only doing 12 mph, that cart's not a lime...it's a lemon. :1rotfl:...:a20:...:1rotfl:...:a20:

With The Villages expanding at record pace and you owning an electric cart I'd suggest you trade it in for gas before it loses most of it's value.

Our cart is set at the legal 19.9 mph and we are passed by illegal carts all the time. I keep waiting for one of these nut jobs to get pulled or roll their cart.

If one wants to drive from say, Lopez to Fenney, you are either crazy or really love sitting in a golf cart. Our electric cart gets us wherever we want to go. I think we will keep it.

I absolutely will pass a cart if it is, IMHO, going way too slow and/or if they are BRAKE BANDITS. Occasionally, the r--e--a--l-- slowpokes force my foot down to avoid accidents. I ALWAYS quick honk twice and announce my intention to pass by yelling, "ON YOUR LEFT". I also honk before I turn on pond-path-blind-corners to alert others of my presence. slow, yackin' folk are enjoying the dawdle, however, I don't necessarily enjoy that ride from the other side..
