Sorry to hear about apartments at the old Katie Bells. I was hoping someone would take it over and a new Katie Bells would emerge. Guess those days are over. As someone said it appears everything is on the table. Who knows what’s next.

Yup. The Villages is going to hell. That's why everyone is moving out and no one is moving in. :icon_wink::icon_wink::icon_wink::icon_wink:

It’s now the fourth generation of The Morse family. They don’t embrace the same standards and there are lots more of them expecting to be enriched. The next step, although probably not imminent, is their sale of their ownership interests, probably to a private equity firm and then a few years later to a large public company or a REIT.

Shhhhhh! Maybe they are going to tear down the entire Katie Bells block and build an apartment building. I thought 11 years ago, I was buying into a nice retirement community where one could go down to the squares and meet residents, enjoy the entertainment and not be wall to wall with people who don't live here. If I wanted that life style, I would have stayed in NY. Things are certainly changing, but not for the better. Be careful, you might get your Costco, right in the middle of your backyard. Only my humble opinion.

We would prefer to see some condo options (own instead of rent). This is a retirement community. I can’t believe we are the only ones who would be interested in that. As we get older and maintaining the exterior and yard gets harder, a condo is looking better all the time. It would be too bad if we would have to move out of the TV to find something.

Katie Belles is an existing building in a commercial area and converting the building to 10 apartment units will have no negative effect on existing single family residential homeowners. I doubt anyone going to Spanish Springs will notice any difference between an empty Katie Belles versus the same building with 10 apartment units. The Katie Belles conversion is in no way the "bait and switch" that is being pulled on the homeowners in the HH area. There is still the fact that the area already has bad traffic congestion and over utilized amenities, but 10 or so apartments won't make any noticeable difference. As I have stated in other threads, I don't have a problem with apartments, as long as they are put in the right place so they do not negatively effect single family homeowners who had no reasonable cause to think they would ever be plopped down in an inappropriate area.

I prefer they find someone to take over the space as a restaurant than add apartments.

Yeah and the article said they would be looking for more places for more apartments too, so watch out. If you have an open spot behind you or next to you, who knows? They'll be a high rise going in shortly if the apartments keep going up.

Good point, and you really don’t need an open space next to you to have watch out! Until very recently there was no open space at Hacienda Hills. I think the real message is that if you live near any land owned by the developer you need to watch out.

Well it did not take you too long to start spreading fear and panic amongst the population did it? Didn't you spread enough fear among the people living in the Hacienda CC area. :ohdear:

I shall, of course, charge them all the full amenity fee, and may even pass some of it on.

So, you got Yes people on the committee Too?

You'r talking to the wrong person, I did not spread any fear among the poor folks living in the Hacienda CC area? I whole heartedly sympathize for these people. I am not the one planning on building a high density apartment complex in their neighborhood.
