Hi, I too spent 22 years raising my family in Troy. My kids went to Athens. We are now off Adams & Dutton-Just next to Oakland county.
My husband recently visited TV with me. I visited 2 years back with a friend. I feel in love with TV immediately. One can't describe TV properly. It was not until my husband visited with me that """"he got it""". he too likes it. We hope to come this summer to buy for winter.

My adult kids thought we must have a screw loose to leave Calif. They changed their minds when they came to visit.
I work at the hospital and am not too happy there. TVRH is just about the only thing I'm not thrilled about here in Florida.
I was born in Indiana and spent every summer in Bloomington where my Mom was raised and went to IU. :welcome:Hello to the lady from Bloomington. I spent many summers roaming through the hills and playing in the creeks. I worked in the cafeteria of the dental school during my 17th summer. My best girlfriend and I thought we would find a dreamy dentist like Mark Spitz.... we washed lots of dishes instead.

May I ask what you don't like about working at TVRH? We will be moving to TV in March 2011 and I was considering working at TVRH part-time.

My husband is from Cleveland OH raised in GA and I was born in Orange CA and spent most of my adult life in San Francisco CA. We now live in Arlington VA.

Tom Hannon 12-09-2010 06:17 AM

I'm sure there is so type of record about what states populate The Villages the most. My guess is New York, Ohio, and other states in the Great Lake Area. How many Floridians live in TV?

redwitch 12-09-2010 07:04 AM

San Francisco Bay Area -- Pleasant Hill (East Bay/Diablo Valley) to be exact. Born in Germany. English was my fifth language (learn 'em, move, forget 'em, learn the next). Can pick them back up if I'm in a country for more than 3 weeks, but otherwise, it's English (well, American) and German today.

Have traveled most of my life, so my stock response to most people is my mother with a little bit of help from my father. Military/embassy brats understand the response immediately. Others think I'm being a wise guy.

I am impressed. Five launguages? I have a hard enough time speaking English...and I was born here.

redwitch 12-09-2010 07:53 AM

Easy when you're a kid. Sadly, we moved so much they really didn't stick (unless you get me really, really angry -- then I start cursing in every language I ever knew).

robbie 12-09-2010 08:08 AM

our salesman told us floridians make up the most sales in the villages followed closely by new york... i am a native floridian (miami, ft lauderdale) and my husband was born in brookyln so i guess we fit the profile exactly...

Tom Hannon 12-09-2010 08:19 AM

I have yet to meet a Floridian in TV. LOL.

Dreams do come true

I was raised in Tamaqua, PA and he was raised in Vassar MI. After we both sewed our wild oats, fate brought us together at a bluegrass festival in Telluride, CO. 6 months later he came to me in Allentown, PA, begged me to return to CO, another 6 months later we were married and have lived happily ever after in Denver until he came up with a new plan this year and brought me to The Villages! Life is good, life is good.

The "floridians" they are talking about are probably TV residents moving to another location in TV.

Troy, Ohio and it is now snowing...but in 21 days, counting down, we will be in TV for the month and hope to buy or dream home.

terriG 12-09-2010 08:04 PM

Raised in Hialeah, lived in Miami, Miami Springs, Pembroke Pines. Now that's Florida.

kandj 12-09-2010 09:24 PM

My first 41 years were in MA. Born in Brockton, then lived in Somerville and Everett as a youngster. Started school in Randolph, moved to Pembroke and spent 3rd to 9th grade there. Back to Randolph for High School.

Jim didn't move around as much. He was born in Boston and lived in Charlestown until he was 7. Then moved to West Medford.

We bought our first house in '77 in North Reading. Moved to Hampstead, NH in '97. Bought our villa in TV in 9/2010, will have to wait until the NH house is sold to move there permanently.
