Great idea ..... Publix carries a good selection of international foods. Walmart carries Tim Tams Australian chocolate cookie, expensive but very good.

Publix has Marmite, you have to look for it. i've never seen Vegemite here, though

Where's The Vegemite?

I'm another Aussie who lives for Vegemite on toast and a good cuppa for breakfast. Had to resort to Amazon for my fix. Did you know there is an informal Aussie/Kiwi Club in The Villages? We get together for lunch once a month at different Villages restaurants. Contact wombatdi@icloud.com for information.

My wife (I know, I don’t have a cute nickname for her yet) and I have finally moved here from Ohio. I’m originally from Australia. In the Cincinnati area we had one of the best international markets in the country, and I was able to get my fix of Vegemite.
Does anyone know anywhere around here (other than ordering on-line) that sells Vegemite?

G'day! I travel to Sydney 1-2 times a year for work, so if there is something that you want that you can't find let me know. I just brought back a case of VB from my trip a few weeks ago. I still have some Tooheys left...

Can any of you Aussies give a good description of what vegemite tastes like? Sounds to me like it was invented in WW2 to prevent starvation...along with spam.

My wife (a Buckeye) says it reminds her of the crusty layer at the bottom of a roast beef pan. “Umami” doesn’t quite explain it, but gets you headed in the right direction.
Much of its bad reputation comes from improper consumption. For the uninitiated it is best spread VERY thin on white bread, with real butter and sharp cheddar cheese.

Thanks OrangeBlossomBaby. I’d crawl 35 miles over broken glass for Vegemite. (I wouldn’t walk across the street for Marmite!). Looks like the occasional trip to Winter Garden is in order.
Is there any question this forum doesn’t have an answer to?

Ok, I will ask, what is it?

Publix knows what is good for you.
No self respecting grocer, with their customers welfare at heart, would sell Vegemite!:icon_wink:
