Actually I like Winn-Dixie. But last week I told a cashier that there were a number of items I couldn’t find. Do you think this may be caused by the shipping backups we keep hearing about?

I am disappointed in Publix. Pricing is sky high. We shop at Kroger online and save a lot of $ and it’s delivered to our door.

What is the delivery charge when using Kroger’s?

The name is Kroger (no S on the end)

First 5 deliveries are free then 9.95 after that or $79 per year with unlimited deliveries. No tipping allowed

Publix is Over Priced

“Better” is a matter of opinion. Having worked in the Supermarket business in the NYTriState Area, I was taken back by Publix retails. For a Non-Union Shop with property taxes and rent a fraction of the cost in NYC, it is very disappointing to find NYC retails in Florida. Publix has more competition outside Florida, so it’s sales program, coupons, and senior discounts are available in other states where they operate. I have found the meat department at Winn Dixie to have superior products at better retails than Publix. Same with the Produce, Dairy, and Frozen food.

I'll make a separate trip to Walmart or Aldi to get a half-gallon of milk when I run low. I can't believe people willingly pay almost $3/HG when it's only $1.59 at Walmart.

No matter where I live my shopping habits, are Amazon/ Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Costco, Sams, and the Base.

Most of which comes to my front door. Local is Fresh Market, I may stop into Publix, every couple of months. What little meat we use comes from private farm.
But not everyone needs to shop at the same grocery, or like all the groceries. What they all have in common, they enjoy taking your money.

Lots of options, I don’t like Amazon, Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. We like BJs as apposed to Sams or Costco.

Compare the bakery section in Publix to the bakery section in Winn-Dixie or Walmart market it doesn’t even come close to the selection. Publix prices are outrageous for just about everything. For me it’s worth traveling the extra few minutes to Winn-Dixie or Walmart market knowing how much money I’ll save .

It is funny, in Winn Dixie I was amazed at how small the bakery section was, I go into Publix and it is 3 times larger.

Yes Publix is overpriced and we shop at Walmart, Sams and Aldi too depending what we need. We're too far away from Winn-Dixie but they have some good sales on meats. The two exceptions at Publix are their brand of ice cream it's still sold in the half-gallon sizes and when on sale 2 for $10 it's even better. Then there's their made to order sandwiches their Italian sub is as good as they come for Florida.

I don’t think I have bought ice cream because I am use to 2 for $5 when up north. I went into Aldi once and was not impressed and my wife liked the meat in Publix better than Winn Dixie. Not sure what you get at Walmart but I don’t think I could buy meat there.

We went to Wegmans once, hated it so much we left after going halfway through the store.

Publix is a bit more costly, to be sure. But their overall quality is excellent. My only gripe at Publix is the long lines at the deli counter. I'd say they could do something but speed things up but the employees in back of the counter are already almost bumping into each other.

My wife keeps reminding me that we are in the south and things take longer, lol.

Do you buy meat at Walmart? I just can’t bring myself to do that.

Where in Mass are you from? I might have to look at Aldi again, went in once and didn’t like it. Walmart market is a bit of a ride for groceries for us.

We use to order food online and have it delivered but the issue was we would get things that were ready to expire. When in the store you can select milk that is good for 2 weeks but when delivered we were luck to get 2 days so we shy away from that.
