Well, with the way homegrown entertainment is being cancelled in the squares, I wouldn't be shocked if The Developer did away with Memorial Day celebrations as well.

Hmmm, I’ve been back up north (dealing with the world of reality) for about 4 weeks, am I missing something? What’s up with “homegrown entertainment being cancelled in the squares”? Was something formerly announced or is this another rumor?

The "other" newspaper has some articles regarding the Twirlers exhibitions being cancelled, and a post a couple weeks ago discussed the Classic Car cruise-ins were being shut down as well.

The Classic Car events were tabled due to the upcoming construction/renovation of Spanish Springs...

It’s funny, I was at LSL last Friday, and the Villages Vette club had Corvettes all around the square
Saturday, the farmers market was at SS.

Seems to me like life in The Villages is built around any entertainment to get your drink on

Didn't someone recently post that they quadrupled the fee for Farmers' Market vendors at Brownwood on Saturday mornings?

Lake Sumter Landing isn't undergoing massive renovations. Spanish Springs is. They've even put a temporary exterior wall at the outdoor bar area of Amerikano's. So people wanting to sit at the bar there, no longer have a view of the Square. The other side is walled up too. No room for any major events right now, just the usual nightly entertainment.

Now that the snowbirds are gone, the parking lots have room again so it won't be as bad as if they'd tried doing this in January or February.

Which is why the "other" newspaper isn't a trusted source. Think National Inquirer.

From the “other” newspaper? Get a new source before you post rumors!

They should have a listing somewhere of the Memorial Day events in the Villages.

Not sure it’s only for the season? They consolidated down to just ONE saterday farmers market, to be held at Brownwood. And an hour was cut, closes at 1, not 2.
