Not accurate. Regarding pre-owned homes the villages also list and sells them and IMO I think they list and sell more than MLS. Pre-owned sellers can choose village, mls or fsbo. Village and mls can not show each others listings.

Do some of The Village sales reps sell only new homes and others only list/sell pre-owned?

linandvin 10-28-2011 06:38 AM

Brian Dees does both, and he has been wonderful!

mulligan 10-28-2011 08:25 AM

Julia Powell is the best!!

Carolyn Stebbins is very patient, gracious and knowledgable. We loved working with her.

Our Sales rep was Michael Simpson. He hung in there with us for 1 1/2 years, while we were trying to sell our home in New York Michael kept in touch (without smothering us). He was very patient, returned calls, etc. You can reach him through the sales office at 352-753-2270. If you meet with him, he'll give you his card with his cell number. Hope this is helpful. We used Jim Mclaughlin for our TV Rep. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Plus he was very patient with us. We started looking about 3 years ago. Then we got caught up in this financial mess, and couldn't sell our home up north. So we changed strategies and started looking for a small place down here. Jim never flinched, knowing his commission would be less. He kept looking until he found the right house for us. We are very pleased with him, and would use him again for our next purchase. We highly recommend Jim. Good luck!

We just bought a pre-owned home and used Angie Stokes. She was our original rep when we were looking at new homes. We called her when we wanted to see pre-owned and she was more than helpful and ended up selling us our home.

She is the greatest! (and ask her about the fainting goats LOL).:bigbow:

starbaby 10-29-2011 04:47 PM

we went with Priscilla Hart. She worked with us for several years before we were able to finally get here.

Very happy with Cindy Coffey!!!!!

Colleen Wotring is terrific. We dealt with her for about 4 years before we bought. Very patient and knowlegeable.

Judging from the posts, all f the sales associates meet your criteria. We have friends in training now to be sales associates --it's an 8 week course--pretty intensive --and it's for people who are already realtors so it's all about acquainting them with the way The Villages works.

Kudos to those who posted a reason why their rep is the one to go with!

By the way our rep was not listed now and and she wasn't either when another newbie posted the same question awhile ago.
Nanette Elliot is our rep.
We were in TV Feb 2010 spent about 16 hours with her packed into 3 days. Answered all our questions about the designer of our choice and sat with us a couple of hours so I could determine the cost of about 12 different options we were interested in. She also tooks us to a couple of resales just to see how the house sits on a lot and if we were interested.

Lastly she gave us a true floor plan of the house so I can make up little furniture to see how it would fit. A very classy lady who has a few horses that she takes care of.

We were very happy with Laurie Briggs.

sales rep

If you want a Sales Rep who will go out of his way for you, he is the person. My wife and I dealt with him while we were living in New York. Mike Joy went out of his way for us. He sent us a number of houses that he thought would be what we were looking for. Also went back and took many pictures for us so that we were able to select and purchase the house we bought. Mike Joy comes highly recomended.

I just completed my second visit to The Villages. While the first visit was a short lifestyle stay the second was for the entire month of October. Ron Delk assisted me both times and provided me with all the in depth information I requested - and I asked a lot of questions! Ron does his best to assist people in finding a home. He is patient, knowledgable and helpful. I recommend him.

It is wise to also consult with an "outside" MLS Realtor. In that regard I recommend Debbie Gentry with Tom Grizzard. Her cell # is 352-217-3179. Debbie has lived in The Villages for years and at one time sold homes as an "inside" real estate agent for The Villages. Debbie is extremely knowledgable about The Villages and has no ties to the developer as far as I know.

graciegirl 11-07-2011 11:41 AM

I also suggest that each prospective buyer do their due diligence and research what they want by visiting the web sites for The Villages and for MLS, (Lyle Gant has a good one) and comparing overall square footage and think long and hard about garage space..(It is storage, basement, craft area and a lot more than garages are up North) Designers square footage goes up to a little over 2000 square feet and cottages and villas range from 1200 to 1800 if I remember correctly.

Go to as many open houses as you can and familiarize yourself with all parts of town. Do you like the North...It is close to so many retail places and doctors. Do you like the South. it is newer and has wider cart paths. Do you like the center, close to Lake Sumter Landing. Most people I know including us wanted a courtyard villa to begin with...and some stuck with that and some changed their minds.

Those of us who post on this forum can answer some of your questions but for awhile, we didn't know what direction we were headed. Privacy in back of your home costs money. View lots are more expensive. Living in an established village has it's pluses and minuses. It is nice to be "new" when everyone else is new, but it is nice to buy a house with the odds and ends already done and the bond paid down.

Good luck to all of you no matter where you are in your journey. We are in our second house for a month or so and still unpacking.

And would we change anything? Sure. No house is entirely perfect.

A great realtor in TV!!

About 8 weeks ago we went to TV and purchased some land to build on. Our realtor was Jim Minnelli. (Not sure I spelled last name right) He was very patient, very helpful and had a great sense of humor! I would highly recommend him!

I read all through the seven pages of posts and did not see Audrrey Sullivan's name. That is just so wrong, as she is the best!

Agent

Brian Arango - he made sure I got what I wanted, where I wanted. He has gone out of his way to answer questions, take pictures - you name it.

Sales rep Jim Minnelli

Another vote for Jim Minnelli. He's just a down to earth guy. Very patient and kind. From the sound of it you really can't go wrong with any of the sales people! Good luck!

We used, and liked Rene' Webster

Wow, lot's of names. Is it because TV has so many agents each one can devote the time each client deserves? The family doesn't miss a beat.

tommy steam 12-13-2011 01:28 PM

great sales rep

I have used a great gentleman named Brian Arango when I went down to the villages...He will listen to what you are looking forand guide you to that place which you have in your mind. If you are not too sure about what you are looking for, he will listen to you and than guied you...He is low key and not a pushey guy....Any of the peoplw who iI encountered in the villages ,who knew him ,said what a great person he is...And yes he will answer any of the hard questions about TV..bond ,taxes, housing lots...ask and he will tell you no bs

My husband & I highly recommend Priscilla Hart....she is the best!

BostonCelt 12-20-2011 11:51 PM

Happily recommend Kathy Collins. Never any pressure but always accommodating, punctual, and professional with tremendous insight and, especially in my case, the patience of Job.

Plus, as a bonus, she has an Ace In The Hole. When faced with double deadlines, she can call on her husband, Tim Collins, also in Sales, to lend a hand. Both have years of experience at TV and are super people!!

goingtothevillages 12-21-2011 08:56 AM

We just closed on our new home yesterday - KATHY COLLINS was the realtor and by far, one of the best I've ever had!!!! Very quickly got to understand not only what we were looking for, but us as well - always seemed to be able to "read us" and was one step ahead of us. HIGHLY recomend her!

June Brine of the Spanish Springs office is GREAT.
You give her a list of your requirements and she will find it.
