I just went with Comcast. Total for TV, high speed and telephone 124.07. I like the telephone service, can call up north anytime without cost.

When I called Comcast, I was told they could not provide phone service? I find that interesting because I thought the internet came in on the phone lines.

I have AT&T up north, I can't use AT&T in TV. It appears Comcast and Embarq has the market cornered in TV.

I was able to set up a seprate account for Direct tv in TV along with my account up north. Now when I leave Kansas I call to have the Kansas service suspended and have the Florida service turned on and vice versa. At no charge.

Comcast has Cable TV and Internet

Embarq has Landline Phone and Internet

Internet can come in on either cable or phone lines. Don't understand why it can't be off a satellite with Dish or Direct TV?

I have Comcast phone service, south of 466 if that makes a difference....GN

Unfortunately these packages are not available in TV because of the monopoly franchises given to EMBARQ and Comcast. Too bad.

I think we would all benefit if EMBARQ and Comcast had some competition.

You are exactly right. I use AT&T U-verse now (not in TV). It is a very good product, and less expensive than the local cable service (Cox). I understand that Verizon's FIOS is comparable. Its really too bad that they don't offer the service in TV. If anyone has any ideas as to how we could lobby to get it, the TV residents would definitely be better off with one of them.

Thanks everyone for all the support getting all my services in place. I now have Direct tv and Embarq phone + Internet. :clap2: Actually I found it easier to buy our Villa in TV then to get service. I haven't seen my dining room table for several days for all the note pads.

Cell phones

Any thoughts on which cell phone service provider gets the best reception in or around the village of Caroline? We use AT&T now and get poor reception in our home.

lieq 06-20-2009 06:44 PM

What cell phone service do you use?

PR1234 06-21-2009 09:31 AM

I would be interested to know that also. We have Alltel here in MI, but when we are in TV the reception is horrible:swear: We were thinking of switching to Verizon.....any thoughts???

nONIE 06-21-2009 10:05 AM

We have Verizon cell phone service and it is probably a 6 on a 1-10 scale. Not great but not horrible. Cell to cell service is even worse in TV, definitely a huge frustration if your planning on a lengthy conversation. And of course it is just necessary for us females to do that once in a while.:blahblahblah:

cell phone - I have consumer cellular through AARP - good service all through US where I have been, no contracts, free phones. My husband and I share 1000 anywhere minutes for $60.00 total a month. I've had it about 2 years. Now my phone is not fancy - it isn't a camera, etc., but all I need.

I live in Caroline and have Verizon for my cell phone and have never had any trouble whatsoever..no lost calls or bad reception. I have found it to be very reliable.:pepper2:
