If you say so...........................................

There already is spell check. Just right click on the word underlined in red. For example right click on the word spellcheck in your post.

In my browser, chrome, none of the words are underlined in red. I'm a terrible speller who needs to cut and paste into google docs and back again to to TOTV.

sometimes i forget or get too lazy

Tom, without spell check I could not survive. I'm using firefox right now but I use chrome on my other computer and spell check works. I'll look through my settings and see if I can help you turn it on. the administrator might know how also.

This is all I could find. Hope this helps.

Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
Select Settings.
Click Show advanced settings.
In the "Languages" section, click Languages and input settings.
In the Languages and Input dialog that appears, under the "Languages" list choose the language you want to use and click Use this language for spell checking on the right.

You got to be kidding.........I'd rather spell a word wrong than go thru all this bs.

Thanks for the help. I fixed it. I feel like I once knew how to do that. Lately, when I talk to myself, I feel the need to dumb down the conversation.

Calling a thread "silly" is another reason why people may not feel comfortable posting. How can one person tell another how they should feel?

If I don't like a topic or someone rubs me the wrong way, I skip the thread. I don't feel the need to personally attack the content or the person

My spell checker is a total pain. It changes whole words and unless I review what I have typed and correct the "corrections" nonsense or worse can result. My daughter has turned her spell checker off! Maybe I should do the same.

imagine you are new to TOTV and the third or fourth reply is correcting your spelling of Sumter. You don't know it's a running joke. You just know you feel like a fool. So, I think it is a perfect example.

Two years ago I was on the state website going through links to find a site that listed dumping locations for unusual items. The website I found finally referred me to a "Sumpter County" link.

How about the iPhone autocorrect function when you text? I've had several embarrassing messages resulting from that.

I agree, more tolerance and just enjoy.

And I have to say that every time I see your picture of the cat with the helmet I laugh. It's just to cute and such a good reminder not to take oneself or life so seriously. :ho:

:undecided: Hey Shimpy I think you may have misspelled bull stuff.

Bonanza 11-19-2014 03:07 AM

I have misspelled Sumter with a "p" a number of times, I'm sure,
because I type quickly and Sumpter was a street in a city where I once lived.
I do it automatically without even thinking about it.

Worse than misspelled words is some of the grammar
that actually makes me cringe in embarrassment for the poster making a comment.
It makes me wonder if any of these people ever went to school.
Yup. I seen it many times!

2BNTV 11-19-2014 06:07 AM

I gloss over misspellings but I carefully watch the intent of what someone is trying to say, and how they say it. To me, that is much more important!

It gives a sense of where someone is coming from, and whether you want to have them as a friend, or invite them into your home.

Some people prefer to be anonymous, so they can say what they want, without impunity. A little kindness goes a long way, for most people.

We will all disagree on one thing, or another, but let's do it respectfully.
