I disagree completely with those who posted that a nation's citizens need to be protected from the truth by their elected officials. That implies elected officials have intellectual, educational, economic, and/or moral superiority and are fit to make decisions to "protect" their lesser advantaged masses. Simply not true, anyone can see that sets a nation on a path to ultimate failure, ultimate destruction. Frightening to think how we are going that direction. We create an idol out of a common man, we then throw all our deepest fears and insecurities on this "creation", then we "it" fails us, the great president or the great scientist who will save us, or the great general, is revealed to be just another, nothing special, man, we quake in our fears, and look for another. If anyone wants a 4 year liberal arts education in psychology, philosophy, fear as the one emotion that rules the world, and the foolishness of mass illusion and hysteria, all you have to do is watch the entertaining old movie.... Madagascar (the original one !)

Humans make a big mistake when they try to find that one great leader that will turn their lives around and make everything wonderful. There was a sci-fi movie about that called "Dune" where only one great leader could ride the giant space-folding WORMS. Mankind has NOT risen past the anthropological idea of tribalism, where the one (god-like) leader carries the nation on his (mostly) shoulders to ultimate glory. Think Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, and the Kennedys.
........For myself, I would prefer a 3 or 5-person panel to be President of the US, not just ANY one person.

Correct!!!

I feel the same way you do…
Young and immature! Easily impressed and swayed. He has definitely been “set up”. This very impressionable “man” was coerced into this unthinkable act of TREASON .

could accept that with 1 six year term limit. It would eliminate the vitriol during elections and lose only 2 years of lame duck presidencies.

Great to learn something, would never have garnered that from the "news talking heads", or even a couple of our federal administration spokes persons. I had never heard the acronym and they sure made it sound "dark", "mysterious", lol, of course. I do believe though, that his particular cyber "friends" (again, so they say !) were all younger, and looked up to him as important, knowledgeable, etc. Too bad when a person has a change to be a positive role model, many prove to have "clay feet". Anyway, many entertaining hours of playing on line games and thanks for explaining " Discord ! Maybe you should explain to some of these "government spokes people", it's not ominous at all... good luck with that !

Heh - most of those "government spokes people" still don't understand the concept of social media.

Also - Discord isn't an acronym. It was named Discord because discord - the inability to synchronize - was something they were trying to solve when they were playing League of Legends and one of the Final Fantasy games, almost a decade ago.

As for my comment that you responded to, I was incorrect - they don't have "hundreds" of game servers. They have "millions" of game servers. They, being Discord.

Technically speaking, discord is a VoIP and instant messaging system. If you use Zoom, or Skype, or WhatsApp, then you are using something very similar to Discord.

A penny for your thoughts on the latest "leak" of classified intelligence information that effects our allies as well as us ! What do you think of the explanation that's it's actually a low ranking air force reserve member, more focused on on line gaming with teens than with his heavy responsibility by having access to our most sensitive intel ? A paid spy ? An immature air force member with "over his head" responsibilities ? A low lying fruit scapegoat for something even more complicated and covert than we can imagine ?

Funny, I made a comment on jail time and the judicail system and got an infraction. The OP must have pretty good connections with a post like this. Wonder if reply posters are getting infracted?

No politics being discussed in this thread for sure. Just more clickbait for infractions for some...

Thank you for the good, technical, detailed explanation!

Tribalism defined - as looking for that one great leader (aka Missaia) that will lead their society to great, legendary heights. Historic examples - Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, and Mao - yes, great leaders everyone, but their followers paid a great price for the leader's UNLIMITED ambition. Be careful when you try to pick that ONE SPECIAL EXHAULTED LEADER. History is littered with FALSE prophets. Be VERY careful!

Top Secret Leaks

There have been many top secret leaks on line, one game in particular has been the reason for a lot. The game War Thunder has had service personnel from many countries disclose secret info to back up their positions. Leaks have come from the US, England, China, Russia, France and other countries. Here is an interesting article. There are other articles out there.

Another problem is that according to one article I read, as of 2019 there were about 1.25 MILLION people holding Top Secret clearance in the US, seems like a lot.

War Thunder fan reportedly leaks restricted F-16 documents - AeroTime
