I didn't know this. I'll have to visit the site and get a new voice because I call our female voice B**ch most of the time. Recalculate my butt!.....:D

Thanks for the info!

I do not have a GPS nor do I plan on getting one. I still believe in maps and get my directions off of the internet.

I have also never ridden in a car that has a GPS. I guess that would be an experience. Along with seeing an ipod, iphone or Blackberry or whatever.

I was always a firm believer in the "I don't need no stinkin' GPS!" philosophy......til a friend offered me his since he was upgrading to a newer model. Price was right so I bit...............and now I'm hooked. With the p/t work I'm still doing, I'm always driving to fairly unfamiliar areas, looking for specific addresses. I used to travel with MapQuest printouts. Plugging the address into the GPS then hitting the road is a whole lot easier (for me) than working with the MapQuest pages. Kinda like having a cell phone with you when you really need to make a call - it's another "indispensible convenience".

Any GPS is far from perfect. It makes it nice when you're charting new territory, though. Plus it gives you someone else to holler at when you make a wrong turn!! But it does get a bit distracting while driving, what with fooling with my MP3 player, using the electric razor in the rearview mirror, trying to read the paper, drinking my coffee, texting my friends, eating a triple Whopper.......... :smiley:

My GPS doesn't have a name. She cannot pronounce "recalculate." She says something like 'recall kool ade' Makes me giggle every time.
But I do love my GPS. She doesn't recognize my home address (new section of TV) so I had to put in the mailbox as Home. But I've found if you just trust the GPS it will get you where you want to go, even if it seems to be taking a strange route to get there.

Ok , I've got to tell this to someone , so here goes...........
My Garmin GPS has bluetooth capabilities , Meaning that on the screen is a little telephone Icon that you can push and talk hands free to all you friends.
Two weeks ago on the way down here I tried to get off the hwy to get a sandwich and the GPS just about went crazy yelling RECALCULATING, RECALCULATING to the point that I muted the voice so I could concentrate on making my turn ...........It was nice and peaceful for a few minutes until the phone rang , I pushed the button and said hello ,,,,,,,,,It yelled RECALCULATING , RECALCULATING , finally I through it in the Comode.......

No Uturn Fumar .........:blahblahblah::blahblahblah::blahblahblah :

Now wait a minute!!! I finally found a way to make the time on the VCR quit blinking!! I put a small strip of duct tape over it!

So us cavemen can figure things out!

I have changed the anoying "recalculating" to "Holy Cow, we missed our turn, we need to pay attention. I get lots of laughs with that when someone new is with me.

Wish they would create those fun voices with Text to Speech.

If you have a TomTom, try loading up W (I kinda miss him). He says "You have reached your jusss..tifffa..kaction."
