Because I'll give you one:

"The standard size of a stop sign measures at 30 inches across with a white border of 20 mm (or a little less than an inch) around the sign1. The rumor that if you come to a “Stop” sign that has a white border around the edge, you don’t actually have to stop is false. Nearly every single stop sign has a white border around the edge, but you must stop at the sign and give way to traffic on a major road32."

(S)He was serious with that comment about white borders?! I had never heard that claim before and thought (s)he was just being sarcastic.

Not sure. I was just trying to give a landmark building close to where this happened. The Waterfront Inn is just east of there.

If you meet a bike (trike) in your car or cart coming at you in a neighborhood does it bug you?

I often walk on the wrong side facing traffic. When I ride my E-bike (I am in no hurry) and when I see a car or fast modified golf car in my rear view mirror, I pull way over on the edge of the road and stop. Of course. I also take only low traffic back streets wherever I go. I would NOT ride a 3 wheel bicycle on the wrong side of the road because that is too much to expect the oncoming drivers to move to the middle of the road to accommodate YOU. I think that you need to rethink your strategy. Maybe do what I do and pull over and stop while riding in the legal direction.

We do not have the facts in the Villages pedestrian death.

So sad to see these happening though.

I have had close calls myself most of which could be prevented by a well placed curved mirror so that often speeding trafficking will slow down taking a blind curve.

I agree. I pointed out the jacking up of the speed of golf carts and how dangerous it is. Also, there is the fact that the residents in the carts going 20 MPH are ENTITLED to POLICE PROTECTION from those golf carts set up to SPEED. I got derided by various posters for saying that I have seen golf carts go by my house at 40 MPH. Yet I remember reading a post in TOTV several years ago by a cart owner that bragged that he had his golf cart "souped up" and capable of 60 MPH.
.......All these fools in carts going over 20 MPH sometimes don't bother to slow down for curves and I can imagine that 2 of their wheels are LIFTING. And you add high levels of alcohol to the mix of curves and high speeds and the POLICE have FAILED in their duty to protect retired people in The Villages. I am sure that retired people die ever year because of these speed altered GOLF CARTS.

Keywords: “hit from behind.” Always face traffic unless on a dedicated walking path!

A funny thing is if you are doing the right thing and walking "facing traffic", you might get hit by the poster that rides his 3 wheel bicycle ALSO "facing traffic". I would suggest that anyone walking or riding a bicycle get a rear view mirror that can attach to their sunglasses or to their helmet-------------so that they can ALWAYS see what is behind them. Because we have old people (with a hobby of drinking) and local POLICE that allow this crap of raising the golf cart speeds.

One thing that we can't keep out - is did the golf cart driven by the 23 year old have its throttle control ALTERED for higher speed. I hope that the Police look into any throttle changes.

Golf cart accident wasn’t in villages so we have no clue the circumstances?

The 23 year old was in car in villages accident. Not clear where the person was walking? IF it was at Stillwater trail and canal street that’s dangerous at any time even in crosswalk and especially when sun come up in east for west bound traffic.

This is such a simple thing to do, yet is ignored by so many :-(

Likewise wearing bright clothes, and carrying a flashlight in poor light

Whatever precautions you take, be prepared to jump out of the way

Correct. I saw one today cruise right through a stop sign.

There are times when I walk on the right side of the road (as opposed to the left side). If I'm going to a neighbor's house and they live on the same side of the road I live on, I'm not going to cross the street, walk 2 houses away, then cross the street again to get to the neighbor. I'll just hug the edge of the road on the same side as traffic.

As for riding a bike, ALWAYS ride with traffic. Not only because it's the law, since - who cares about the law, really. We're all privileged here, laws are for other people, not for us.

No you do it because otherwise you either want to die, or you want other people to die. Either way it's bad. If I'm riding my bicycle the way I should be - on the right side of the road, with traffic. And you are coming toward me - on a bicycle against traffic - and a pickup truck comes around the bend from behind me and starts to pass me and doesn't see you - then it's very likely that at least one of us is going to end up in the hospital.

So just don't do that.
