You are so very and sadly correct. Every employer in this area is crying for employees and willing to pay double the normal starting rate for the most part but can’t get anyone.
Our local Lowe’s is down 25 people and desperately looking. They tell me as have others that because unemployment benefits have been increased and extended people are staying home and making the same and in many cases more than they were working so why work? The point you ask? The point being this is just another way to get all the people they can depending on the government. Open everything should’ve never been closed cut the benefits and get back to work now. Let those that will ge the Covid get it, let those that will die from it die, let those that recover from it recover, let those that won’t get it go forward period and I’m saying this as someone with every risk factor a person could have. Exactly I do just as you and always have. Well said and true.

This morning my parents were heading north on their trip back home to NY. I couldn’t convince them to stay a few more days until this blows over. I went over to Walmart very early to fill their tank as I didn’t want them to stress about finding gas. While I was waiting, a man in a lawn mowing service truck circled the lot yelling obscenities at everyone as loud as he could. I didn’t see him actually stop to get gas. I guess he just wanted everyone to know how he felt about people getting gas.
A few nights ago, I took my parents to Sumter to listen to music. My Dad is in his 90s and takes pride in still using his walker, but his mobility is very limited. So, I pulled up as close to the curb as I could, dashed out and got his walker. It took me about 30 seconds to get him from the car to the sidewalk. As I did so, a female driver screamed an obscenity at me and told me to find a handicapped spot (if only there were any). In both incidents, the drivers felt emboldened to scream their foul mouthed objections. They chose to judge and then use inflammatory words. I’m not sure as a society how we have degraded and simply lost compassion for each other. It’s quite sad really and it makes me think a lot about my parents who struggle everyday, thankful to wake up and see the sun shine. It gives me reason to pause and reflect on how I can be more aware of those around me that might be struggling and simply take a breath and let them be or help them if needed. Folks, this temporary gas shortage is just that, temporary. Let’s take some time today to accentuate the positive. Shut off your TVs for a few days and get off Facebook. Take a walk, get on your bike, go swim in the pool, or just read a good book. Decompress. Be patient with the elderly. We have so many here that need our patience, understanding and compassion. Give them time to get gas, cross the street or safely drive their car. One day, you will be that person. Life is too short to be mean. It takes up too much energy. |
I give you a lot of credit for being willing to admit that you made a purchase that you regretted hopefully you didn’t get hurt to bad getting out of it I suspect not as people are clamoring for these electric bombs.
I wish more people would own up to it and help the rest of the buying public to make a better buying decision. They just raised the prices again across the board at Tesla and they’re still bleeding money as every vehicle sold is at a loss as many electric vehicles are for the other manufactures. When I worked for FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles the manufactures had to make a certain percentage of their production electric and they were subsidized by the federal government to do it and still couldn’t break even selling them. Our CEO Sergio Marchione (rest in peace) at the time when asked about the slow sales of our electric offering said this. I hope I never sell another one they didn’t promote sales as the advertising would’ve only added to the losses. He said that the corporation lost between $500.00 and $750.00 on each vehicle at that time which was 7 years ago. Tesla doesn’t want to build cars he builds them to show the battery capacity of his batteries in hopes to be the automotive industries largest OEM battery supplier. Batteries and rockets is his business not cars. Quote:

Getting back to gas lines, went to a gas station outside of The Villages. Pulled right up an filled 'er up. Fifty dollars later I was back on the road.

We, the consumer can control the price of fuel, if we stuck together!
I used my Peloton to run to the gas station with my 5 gallon gas can ! |
I owned a Texaco station in Pompano Beach FL at that time and I could pump my monthly allotment in 3 days if I’d have let it happen. I limited to 5 gallons per vehicle no gas cans and was open 6:30AM - 9:00AM closed until 3PM opened at 3PM- 7:00PM
That’s what these people that are gasoline vendors need to do now just like one pkg of toilet paper per customer. Too many scared panic ridden people in this world period. Quote:

[Exactly,
At least we did when I owned my station down south QUOTE=ron32162;1943193]In Florida we get 90% of our gas from the Gulf coast refineries by Tanker Trucks not the pipeline that was affected.[/QUOTE] |
Trust me my wife has worked for Exxonmobil at the top for 20 years we have all the oil we need and beyond but when there’s no profit in pulling it out of the ground it won’t get done.

Manufactured shortage |
Exactly I lived through the debacle in Houston recently and luckily our apartment is literally across the street from a hospital and a fire station and guess what no loss of power or water throughout the situation for us but millions were without both for weeks and still repairing at gouged prices because shortage of materials and labor to make the repairs needed.

Just moving here from Houston and went through it and like your sister our apartment complex is literally across the street from a hospital so no loss and since I had a 2 year protected price contract with the power company I paid no extra.

Sorry no gas cans period. That’s what I did in the crises of 80 when I owned my stations and if they didn’t like it they could drive by and get in line elsewhere.
Take your vehicle home and syphon what you need for your lawn mower from it. Quote:
