I once saw an episode of Freaky Eaters or something where one guy ate pizza for every meal and a woman ate only cheesy mashed potatoes. For, like, decades.

It was kind of disgusting to think about, BUT ... I'd go with corned beef hash. ;)

jblum315 08-22-2015 08:45 AM

I read a magazine article about a woman, married with two kids, who eats only white bread, butter and white potatoes, and milk. She has eaten only those things for decades, she is 37 and not overweight and her doctor says she is perfectly healthy. P.S. Her husband cooks for himself and the kids.

We are now in Prince Edward Island, and it's lobster season on the South Shore where we are staying.
Fresh cold-water lobster, fished daily from the ocean. YUM!

Just now, on Prairie Home Companion, Garrison Keillor in his "Tales of Lake Wobegon" talked about the Lutefisk Dinner at the Lutheran Church.

To think....I heard about lutefisk twice in the same day. Now, I know what it is.....and I do not think I want to try it. But, hey, where I am from, we eat our chili on top of spaghetti and top it with cheese and people from outatown think that's weird.......until they get hooked on it, too.

Lake Wobegon is a fictional town in Minnesota where a large population is Scandinavian. Hence the lutefisk dinner at the Lutheran Church. Was it at Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Not sure. I was doing other things and missed a part of it. But tonight's show was a rebroadcast from November, 2010, so must have been Thanksgiving. If you would like to listen, you might be able to on the website. -- I have been a fan of the show for many years.

I think I have heard Betty White's character Rose on The Golden Girls talk about lutefisk, too. But I never knew what it was until today.

Gotta choose only one thing.

Barefoot 08-23-2015 07:02 PM

I'm just jealous.

lovsthosebigdogs 08-23-2015 07:08 PM

I think for me it would be oysters but with the danger of saying more than one thing (afraid of Bare) I am definitely NOT going to commit to how I want them prepared.

Am I the only one who wants to mention the connection between oysters and Valentine's Day?

dbussone 08-23-2015 07:38 PM

I'm aware but Valentine's is some time off and many Villagers have trouble with their schedules from week to week. ::jester::

I wholeheartedly support your intent, but please allow me to make a couple of minor modifications: 1) Maine lobster and, 2) Ipswich (MA) clams.

chuckinca 08-23-2015 08:22 PM

surgees 08-23-2015 09:24 PM
