I have to disagree with you.

Local roads whether they are 2 or 3 lanes, handle all of the traffic on the road.
The ONLY time you use the left lane for passing
is on a highway I-75, I-95, and the Florida Tpk.
Can you imagine everyone driving in the right lane
around The Villages?

By the way, what is your hurry?

You may disagree, but you are dead wrong!
I guess you're one of those left-hand lane drivers??? :ohdear:

Check out BlueAsh's #30 post regarding the law.

SO as it been said many times WHATS YOUR HURRY YOUR RETIRED and it will help your blood pressure not to get all worked up about Nothing that's going to change. Besides LEO never catch but .2% the hiatal speeder's anyway, you know the ones that want to go 20 MPH over the speed limit and you say under your breath "where COP when you NEED one":ohdear:

You may be right when it comes to local roads where there are frequent left turns, weak drivers tend to migrate to the left lane early out of fear of not being able to get over later. But on an interstate, almost all entry ramps are from the right, which means these same weak drivers have to intentionally move left to get in the left lane. They should know from experience that they are the equivalent of road litter and should stay right from the beginning. How many times have you seen a driver enter a 3 lane interstate and IMMEDIATELY cut across 2 lanes to get in the left lane, where they la-de-da along below the speed limit? Ridiculous!!!

(2) Upon all roadways, any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.

(3) On a road, street, or highway having two or more lanes allowing movement in the same direction, a driver may not continue to operate a motor vehicle in the furthermost left-hand lane if the driver knows or reasonably should know that he or she is being overtaken in that lane from the rear by a motor vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed. This subsection does not apply to drivers operating a vehicle that is overtaking another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, or is preparing for a left turn at an intersection.

Thank you. It is clearly the law to stay to the right. Anyone who drives in the left lane when they are not passing other vehicles, or if they are not preparing to turn left, is breaking the law. And that applies to Route 466 as well as the interstate. In reality, however, the locals seem to make no effort to enforce the law, and you have the self entitled people that think it is their right to slow everyone else down and have the selfish attitude "We're retired, whats the hurry. " I don't see a solution other than trying to travel at times when there are not a lot of people on the road.

Check out BlueAsh's #30 post regarding the law.

Please read to Para. (3) and don't pass OVER the big IF in that paragraph.

IMO most merging drivers don't even look to merge they just move over like they got the right-a-way.:cus: I can't control other drivers, all I can do is stay out of there way, and Hopefully not get hit in the process

As I stated earlier and is being shown in this thread, there will always be those that think the law doesn't apply to them, or even worse...think they are entitled to play traffic cop. :ohdear:

I agree, I hate people that think the law does not apply to them. Some might call them hateful and stupid.

Three cheers for Law and Order!

Same can be said for those turning west headed toward Pinellas Plaza, I've got a left turn coming up, I better get over now, nevermind I'm only doing 40, that's a good safe speed for me. The drivers behind me should realize, I'm saving their lives going this slow.

Sooner or later they will be able to pass a car???

Did you read your own post?

Did you not see this part? Proceeding at "LESS THAN THE NORMAL SPEED". You are only required to stay in the right hand lane of you are not doing the speed limit or not keeping up with the flow of traffic.

NoMoSno 10-30-2016 08:21 AM

If everyone stayed in the right lane on 441, traffic would be bumper to bumper, from Ocala through Leesburg.
I'd be happy if everyone just used their turn signals and stayed off the cell phones...but that won't happen....

It's kinda funny how so many admit to breaking the law while admonishing people for breaking the law.

I remember one poster admitting to driving 80mph...don't really see the "so many" referred to.

msgip 10-31-2016 06:57 AM

These are the same driver who probably DO NOT use their turn signals.

Can someone please tell me what it is with so many drivers here that insist on driving the left (passing) lane?
Other than it is against the law, that is so wrong for so many reasons.

I grant you that in a highly commercial area, such as on 441 say, it is difficult to do because of all the turning into a shopping area.
But in other areas if you flash your lights or honk your horn, these people in the left lane actually get annoyed!

Perhaps if the police started giving tickets to those who think they own the road, they will drive the right (and correct!) lane.

I agree with you 100%, if these people forgot how to drive, park it.
