"Weaponize words"? Sorry, but this concept is, imho, often the problem of the person who hears/reads the, so-called, weaponized word. A simple "how are you" to a person expecting to be insulted could respond by saying, "are you implying that I'm sick or crazy or dangerous??". Words spoken are easily twisted and misinterpreted by someone with a, so-called, chip on their shoulder. Those who are expecting to be insulted can interpret anything to be an insult.
Yes, sometimes people do try to hurt or make fun someone else. But that is not always the case.

And they wonder why armed forces recruitment is so low. If they worry so much about what you say than what you do, then the war is already lost. However, the enemy may be incapacitated by their laughter and then go home, or video it for Youtube. If the officers in the Marines wish to be addressed by whatever PC title is in vogue today, then by all means. I doubt if that is going to change the way REAL Marines will address each other.
