The sun will set in the west at 7:36 pm and the moon will rise in the east at 7:51 pm. Looks like another blue sky day so it should all be very clear.

Wonder what effect that will have on tides? Check your lines.

Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars,
Let me see what life is like on Jupiter and Mars . . .

I sure do love that big, fat, full moon!!

yahoo had an article, it's an Extreme Supermoon,

as noted above, it's the closest the moon will be to the earth in it's orbit for nearly 20 years, and won't be this close again for another 20.

so while it's not actually *bigger* it is nearer and appears bigger.
It could well have an impact on tides, weather and lunatics too

Hmmm as a film fan an Extreme Supermoon would be Cosmo's moon from the film Moonstruck

I guess I better call Masseys and see if I can get them to get here today and spray for Lunar Tics! :throwtomatoes:

I'm allergic to Lunar Tic spray. Does that make me a...

Never mind. Please do NOT answer that question.

Tonight would be a great night to sit at the Morse bridge and watch the sunset on one side and the SUPER moon rise on the other! Wish I was down to see it. Might be cloudy here in MA.

This was in my morning paper today: A perigee moon, or "super full moon," will be visible in the night sky. Tonight, it will be mostly clear, which should make the moon very visible. It's a good thing, too, because the moon will appear larger by 14 percent and brighter by 40 percent, thanks to a phenomenon that comes around every 18 years or so. The show begins in the eastern sky at sunset, about 7:25 p.m.

The Moon

It is now about 4:40pm in TV and as we are currently living in Rome, Italy it is 9:40pm and we just left a restaurant after dinner.

We looked at the Moon and it is certainly a bit bigger and definetly full however we have some cloud cover so it was not spectacular.

Assuming you have clear skies it will be better for you.

8:32 PM in TV and the Full Moon is low in the clear Eastern sky.

Looks large and bright. Many neighbors are out looking at it too.

Tonight's moon was cancelled in Pennsylvania.
:(

By the way, where was uujudy on this astronomical event. She is normally right on top of this stuff?

Pturner 03-19-2011 08:20 PM

Yeah! Crystal clear night in Atlanta. The moon is big and bright.

lightworker888 03-19-2011 08:32 PM

Super Moon

Apparently this is a "super moon" and is the closest to the earth that it has been for a number of years. Enjoy!
