The basic idea is that development should include a shopping area within a 15 minute walking, biking area of homes, to save having to use car.
Conspiracy nuts are already on the case, claiming "They" are trying to keep the population locked up in small areas.

The main driver of costs are delays/cost of money and the repetitive legal battles from interveners. Nuclear power plants, such as Arkansas Nuclear One were built in less than 6 years each for less than $1B and have been reliable power producers. Palisades was built in 3 years (1967-70) for around $0.5B and also still produces power. Nuclear energy is by far the cleanest reliable 24/7 power and can be the least expensive if the regulatory/legal structure removes the frivolous interveners.

Climate change is mostly hoax when you look back over millions of years and not just an advantageous snapshot supporting one's claim. It’s obvious that most people have absolutely no idea how science works.

1) Someone comes up with an idea (called a hypothesis—not a theory).
2) The scientist runs some tests to see if the hypothesis is valid.
3) They write a paper documenting their idea and the results of the tests.
4) Other scientists try to reproduce the results.
5) If successful, the hypothesis is promoted to a theory.
6) Scientists continue to come up with more tests to help validate the theory. They are still testing Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity after more than a century. As far I know, the theory has never failed.

Unfortunately, the media seems to report this hypothesis at step 1–long before the idea is vetted by other scientists. That is not science. Remember cold fusion? The media reported this idea before step 4 and before independent scientists failed to reproduce the original results, so the idea of cold fusion was sent to the place where invalid hypotheses go to die.

Besides, my guess is that the so-called French “expert” is actually a policy wonk and not a scientist.

Maybe so if we have a safe place to attenuate and dump their waste. Perhaps Florida should step up to the plate and take the spent fuel. After all we could use a few more inches as the oceans rise and when sandbags need to be filled.
As water temperatures rise, dissolved oxygen decreases. It should be real easy to ‘catch’ your fishing quota soon. So don’t worry about the toxicity of nuclear waste to fish.
