Yes, people and children go to bed hungry, but they have ways to help, and they don't waste $2T/year on a military that hasn't won a war in a LONG time, it spent 20 years fighting in Afghanistan with the military saying they had no idea what they were supposed to do, instead of say $1T/year for military and $1T/year for the 40 million with no heath insurance, and the 6 million kids going to bed hungry every day.

I guess my view is the richest country claiming to be based one Christianity (you remember, "Bring unto me the children...") in the world should be a little bit better than the poorest.

Well, like you said, you’re entitled to your opinion. Minority report noted

It seems to me you are were the one initially comparing Ecuador to the USA. El cheapo implants and so on. I simply responded.

Half the responses here are snarky in some form.

Factual, not snarky

I’m the OP. Talk about taking a topic completely off-topic. And the snarkiness of some….

Not to turn away from this so interesting (…) Equador thing, how about the current prices of new and used golf carts? I’m always amazed at the sky/high profit margins on new carts. I mean some new in the high $teens. You can still get, at least MSRP, a nice compact car with all the safety stuff and electronics in the low $20s.

Thankfully our Tomberlin battery electric cart runs well, and no need to replace. Phew.

Both actually.

"Well, like you said, you’re entitled to your opinion."... Is factual.

"Minority report noted"... Is snarky.

Dam, talk about a thread going off topic. Transformed from the high price of new and used cars to the quality of healthcare in Ecuador?

Can we get back to the topic at hand. A Lazy River: :a040:

Our 5 year old Mercedes with 30K miles will no doubt last our lifetimes. It had better with this crazy market. I’ve heard of many folks selling their 2-3 year old car for more than they bought it for new. It’s NUTS.

Yes indeed vehicle prices are high. I have been shopping for a new 2022 BMW X5 M50i I plan to order. Best I can do so far is MSRP from two different dealers but they are more distant than I want to go. I ordered my 2017 X5 50i in September 2016 at a nice discount (COSTCO internet price) from a conveniently nearby dealer. At that time they were selling like hotcakes, too. That dealer currently wants $5K over MSRP. Initially they were asking $10K over MSRP.

As I do not really need to buy it until late this year I plan to wait to order until August when I expect interest rates to be much higher and the stock market down further. Hopefully that will bring the demand down and I will be able to get a better price then.

Or how about the new Costco that is coming here?

Martin, Ecuador - nice place to visit. I wouldn't live there now.

I've lived there. Have close friends who live there. It's beautiful.

It is a third world country. Yes, there are wonderful aspects to it.

Why I don't live in a third world country now?

I'm a senior. I want better health care than Ecuador offers.

Health care - sure you can get an airlift to another country.
Not my vote when I'm having a medical emergency...

Clean drinking water (even in Ecuador's largest cities power blackouts are common, causing water treatment facilities issues - resulting in contaminated water. The random loss of electricity is also an issue throughout Ecuador) Very common occurrence in Guayaquil, Quito - the capitol, and the most "modern" cities in Ecuador.

Crime. Crime. Even in the best parts of Ecuador. Crime.

Yes, it is not a good time to purchase almost anything. We plan on keeping our 11 year old Jag and 12 year old Lexus. But are in good condition and run fine. Was hoping to replace them with a Tesla, but that is on hold.

Sadly, inflation seldom reverts back to the previous lows, but does retreat some. So, we plan to just sit tight and wait for lower prices before making any large purchases. If things just continued to spiral down the drain, we have plans in place to immigrate to Ecuador. It is beautiful, extremely friendly, excellent healthcare, welcoming, and silly low cost of living.

Example, 5 acres mature orchids, 4 bedroom home with maid and gardener for $500 to $750 per month. 100% coverage healthcare is around $100/mth covers dental, optical, and healthcare. Eating out at a good Ecuador restaurant for 2 will run about $10 to $20. And on and on. Note: If you want to live with other American's (there are around 15,000 there) the costs are higher - but, all your favorite restaurants (and high prices) are in those areas.

Cars - Carmax offered me 12% more than I paid for my SUV than I paid new in Feb. I ordered it, took 5 months to get here. I drove it across the US. Carmax is offering me 12% more now. Crazy times.

If you look at the times at the upper left we are several hours into the future. Four hours to be exact.

No, the minority report is factual unless you think a majority of TOTV members think that healthcare in Ecuador is “excellent “
