I wouldn’t expect the healthcare in Ecuador could possibly be any worse than what I experienced in the emergency room at the Villages hospital. In fact, I don’t know if any health care anywhere in the world could possibly be any worse. Over twelve hours waiting to be misdiagnosed and sent out the door after midnight to drive myself home in a golf cart to die. Thank god my wife rushed down to Florida and got me to real hospital in Gainesville, where they took one look at me and immediately checked me into intensive care.

Several doctors have said they were doing better but quite a few people on here vehemently disagree.

First hand experience doesn’t lie.

OK. I "think a majority of TOTV members think that healthcare in Ecuador is 'excellent'", ergo, your assertions are not factual. They are just plain snarky. Anything else you want to concede to my thoughts?

Time to put it all together.

Snarky replies don't add to the conversation, no one said "El Cheapo" except you.

I have no idea if healthcare if good, bad or indifferent so how do I classify my opinion?

How would most of us know enough to even form an opinion?

Well said.

I find that there are a lot of uneducated opinions on bulletin boards and that's OK. It's the posts with condescending bluster that get my goat.

Well, one way, is a vacation to Ecuador.

I recommend going to Quito the capital and Cuenca. Both are big cities, from the let you imagination run free. The Galápagos Islands are nearby and a favorite spot. It is Avery poor country, but the people are incredibly happy and friendly. One memory I will have forever was watching parents walking their children home from the school bus stop laughing and playing. So different than so many places here where the parents are constantly mad and yelling at their kids. It does the heart good.

It is not much to fly, and if you want to try out being "native" and not gringo, it is very inexpensive. Imagine a 4 course lunch for $3.00 each. Of awesome home cooking with local grown fruits and vegetables .

Are we all to take it that your individual opinion speaks for the majority??? Perhaps we should take a poll and see how many think Ecuadorian healthcare is "excellent" I'll stick with my original statement of "minority report" No concessions, in fact, quite the opposite.

How does a "vacation" give anyone a basis for evaluating healthcare in any country???? You probably would need to get sick in that country, and then it is still only one individual experience.
