I just read Tiger's statement, and the report in the New York Times that he is refusing to talk to the police, on advice of counsel. It is a "private matter" they say. I say that he must at least be charged with reckless driving. Even with no alcohol involved, he must have driven recklessly in order to hit a hydrant and a tree on exiting his driveway. Maybe if he's charged he'll change his mind about his right to silence.

I'm lost.... how do you "refuse to talk to the police"?....are the laws different in Florida than New York? totallly confused....

The good news in this country is that no one can be forced to talk to the police. It seems to me obvious that the only reason the police want to talk to him is to see if there is something more serious that they can charge him with. Why should he help them? Sure, they have a traffic violation. But that's all.

In FLA (probably elsewhere as well) for a traffic accident you are only obliged to show license, registration and proof of insurance. And that is what he chose to do.

thanks. enlightening. never knew that.

Early Bird Special

Hey, he could have been going to an early bird special sale at Best Buy on Black Friday....probably needs a new TV set if his wife was running amok with a golf club in his house.

Someone said it right...if he just came out and said that he was having a spat and decided to drive off some emotion, this would go away..now it is escalating into places that may or may not have happened.

Tiger Woods

Mitch, I hate you! I wanted to collect all the accolades. Good job buddy!:boxing2:

Another log for the fire...

Certainly a private matter except IMO it changes the Tiger legacy a bit when compared to a Palmer or Nicklaus....

I'm not quite ready Flowerperson.

Tiger Woods is so rich that he owns lots of expensive cars. Now he has a hole in one.

· What's the difference between a car and a golf ball? Tiger can drive a ball 400 yards.

· Tiger Woods wasn't seriously injured in the crash, but he's still below par.

· What were Tiger Woods and his wife doing out at 2.30 in the morning? They went clubbing

· Tiger Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree. He couldn't decide between a wood and an iron.

· Ping just offered Elin Woods an endorsement contract pushing her own set of drivers. They said to named Elin Woods..."clubs you can beat Tiger with."

· Tiger just changed his nickname but still kept it in the cat family--his new name?: Cheetah

· Since Tiger drives an Escalade, can he blame the accident on his caddy?

· Hello Mister Woods this is the On Star operator we have detected that an angry person has put a golf club through your window, we are contacting Nike for a replacement club.

· Heck who amongst us doesn't hear a car crash and immediately grab the closest golf club we can find??!!!

One of my training directors once said, "The tall trees take the breeze". Tiger is the tallest tree in sports. Now he's in a hurricaine.

But this hurricane is self induced.

A rich powerful man has numerous women looking for their 15 min. Not a real surprise to me. Not that his life should be exposed like this but it comes with the territory in today's TMZ world.

As far as Nicklaus, Palmer or anyone else from the past goes - Let's remember that reporters in the 'old' days would cover up for their 'man'. Just look at how the JFK affairs were covered up vs. how the Bill Clinton affairs were exposed. Let's be careful of thinking that people today are much different than people of yesterday when it comes to temptations. Today we just have much more access.

This is in very poor taste and class. Remember, lest ye be judged?? I read this whole thred just now, and realize now I shouldn't have. Seems like alot of people seem to be happy, when life's problems affect famous people. It's sad.

Exactly. It suprises me that men such as Clinton and Tiger think they can "get away with it". With the constant media scrutiny, I think it would be about impossible. I feel sorry for his wife, but maybe they can work things out.

The guy's a GOLFER, not the president of the US. He's one of the greatest ever, but he's still just a golfer. WHO CARES what he does off the course? Where is it written that someone with a special talent for one thing must do everything else correctly? As a society, we idolize people with one special talent, and put them on pedestals and expect their lives to be perfect and set examples for everyone. Why? I always remember Daryl Strawberry - such a talented kid. Let's give him millions of dollars and then be surprised when this kid isn't perfect. We're idiots for expecting so much from our sports figures.
Let's let him sort out his personal life with his wife on his own and move on to something else.
