What a view now...talk about protective

Since the Dad didn't bring back food, I wonder if he returned because this is a time of day for predators? According to earlier info on the side thread, it should be getting to be 1st feeding time soon.

I just saw a human in the background...did you see that. Someone walking in the woods behind the tree. Wonder if they have any idea what is going on right there where they are walking!!

Didn't see the walker. Hope he doesn't disturb the eagles!

A couple minutes ago, Mom got up and you could see the baby again. Dad flew back to nest. They were both there for a minute and then the Mom took off. Now the Dad is back on the nest.

Some of the info on the side bars says that the nest is the size of a queen bed and probably weighs about 800 lbs....can you imagine the size of that? It also said that it could be some time before the baby eats because it had eaten the yolk of the egg. When it's time the parents will gather food and break off little tiny pieces so it can eat. It says they eaglets are about 3 inches long and weigh 2.5 ounces when hatched. I am just totally amazed at this...

How did you ever discover the site with the live cam? I just had to check on the nest one more time before bedtime. It's nearly 10 p.m. My husband and I sat and watched tonight for some time. Such a true joy to watch nature "up close" like this. I've emailed and called people to share the joy. Your drop of consideration really has rippled into a wave BF. I did too Bare. Friends called and emailed back to say how excited they were to be watching. Think BK and I got a bit swept up in the moments, every time a little chick appeared, trading up to the minute accounts. It was just so breathtaking.

I hope other eagle cam watchers just saw the eaglet!! The eagle stood and appeared to be feeding the little one. Gently putting it's beak (or bill?) up to the eaglet's tiny beak. We watched something being brought into the nest last night by one parent. Not sure what it was. The eaglet has much more control of its head. this morning. Still wobbly but much more stable than the few glimpses I saw yesterday. Fascinating!!

You are welcome, Pturner! And thank you for letting me know the first egg had hatched. (I was in the laundry room with the dogs avoiding the tornado. I should have taken my laptop with me. Note to self: Stop listening to the weather radio!)

I am so glad you are all enjoying the Eagle Website. I must say that I find it very addictive. When the mom stands up and I see the fuzzy little head bobbing around, I feel rewarded for the time I spend.

The second and third eggs should be hatching any day now. The incubation period for eggs two and three is shorter than for the first egg.

Eagles mate for life. They are both acting like proud parents. Nature is so wonderful.
