'63 Corvair Spyder -- factory turbo! Only car in America that could redline in 4th (that's 120mph -- did that once). Won many a 'streetlight gran prix'...and it got 25mpg. Miss that car!

First car was a 1960 Buick Skylark, midnight blue color.

My dad bought it brand new and sold it to me after he drove it two years.

1956 Ford Crown Vic, Orange & White, paid $200 in 1963.
1954 Ford Ranch Wagon, Blue, paid $100 in 1963.
1959 Plymouth Belvedere Convert, White, paid $250 in 1963.

Went in Army in July 1964 - left them all at my dads house; my younger brother sold/wrecked them while I was gone.

My first car that ran was a 1961 Buick Special. Had a V-8, big four barrel carb, and a 3 speed.

Before that a friend and I bought a 1948 Buick Convertible. It had been my father's from 48-54. Somewhere along the line the car stopped running and ended up in a junk lot. We pretty much gave up before we started, it needed more time and money than we had. Pity - it probably would have looked like this: (even the same color)

1962 Falcon with plywood to cover the holes in the floor and no heat. This was during the gas shortage of 1973 or was it 1974? All I know was that my father gave me a can of defroster for the inside of the windows and that I wore 2 coats and 2 pairs of gloves while waiting on line for gas!

1957 Volkswagen Karmen Gia convertible.

1956 Plymouth Belvedere- loved that car! It had a body by Fisher. Remember all the Chevy commercials toted "a body by Fisher" I think 1955 and 1956 were the only two years for Plymouth. It was charcoal gray and white. Had the fin a year before the 57 Chevy. I think the V8 was a 277 CID. It had push button drive. I kept it so polished up that you couldn't see the rocker panels were rusted out. Back then it was cool to have the rear of the car lower to the ground. I put cinder blocks in the trunk.

"55" Ford Fairlane. V8 and stick shift. At a drive in one night I tried to beat the traffic leaving and ripped out the passenger window because I forgot to remove the speaker.

Dirigo 11-23-2010 06:33 PM

'64 Chevy Chevelle, red on red. Used to take it to the drag strip and beat the newer, faster cars (I was fast off the line).
